Never tried one, but this looks interesting if you've got a guitar you can leave it on;

Dang! That would have saved me countless hours mucho money and a destroyed guitar :dog:

I wonder what the playing experience is like with that device . Must check videos. The vigier has some kind of aluminium fretboard afaik to help with the resistance of sliding around. That was my issue with the wooden fretboard on my DIY job. The notes wouldn’t ring out properly. Hence the “Oud”-like sound result.

I will add also that re-fretting a guitar is seriously difficult. Especially a bound fretboard.Eek! Binding is a mega pain also. Same goes for re-radiusing. Need a lot of tooling to do a good re-fret.

Great learning experience but.

Why not jut use a slide? Which to me sounds better anyway...
The one with the plastic cover sounded somewhat sitar-like,
just not as good. I didn't like the sound myself. Personally,
I'd rather get a bender if I was gonna mod any guitars. :shrug:

Slide is fun but this has even more dimensions to it imo.
Plus theres technique to be learned re muting notes behind the slide etc
Then there’s tunings and guitar setup for slide also.

This you can use all fingers and make chords etc between the usual pitches of notes also. And Keep in standard tuning if needed. Low action also for shredding.
This Bumblefoot guy does some cool unique stuff with the Vigier. I’ll post another vid later to demo.
