OD-1 is killer.
Oh true yeah. Cool. that Tonex One nano type pedal is appealing. But don’t see how that one could be tweaked on the fly. You must have the bigger one with more knobs/buttons/screen .
Don’t you have to keep bending down tho, to adjust sounds? Or is it a rack thing. That’d be annoying for me ,crouching down over a pedal throughout a session , wa guitar hanging off me. :x
I’d want a controller or something on the top of my guitar at arms reach. (Great Idea for a product that

So do u plug it straight into a PA system then in that scenario..
Or thru and amp..? if amp , doesn’t that colour the sound running it thru and amp circuit and amp’s particular speaker?

Must bust out that OD-1. Can’t remember the tone of it.
Re the Tonex - I am very vary of digital modellers/fx units, I been burned too many times. :x hope they got it right this time with that one.

Haha awesome :hyper:
So you’re ‘That Pedal Guy’ with the huge floorboard of flashing lights :hihi:
When I see that guy coming in at start of rehearsal .. I got out for a few smokes . Cos I know there’s gonna be a while of tweaking knobs and testing sounds.
Heh I do like pedals, though my situation has changed and I can't afford them like I used
to be able to. It's been a while since i bought any pedals. Tho I'm sure there will be more
sooner or later.
That picture is my worst nightmare.
So many knobs :o and the troubleshooting if something goes dead/no sound :x
And that red tone-sucking digital Boss pedal in the middle .. yuk

heh, that's a looper. I used it in that video actually, along with a bunch of other stuff. :)
*sry thought u were asking what it was. It's a great looper tho :tu:

Both give you dedicated knobs for volume and EQ's, which double as controls for the reverb, compressor, and gate. The full version adds a knob for gain and secondary controls for presence and reverb depth, plus the screen and preset/model knobs.

Yes, I sometimes put it on top of my amp for that reason. It also helps that I use locking straps.

I use the effects return of a tube bass combo with a 15" speaker. I used to use the aux input of a Line 6 AmpliFi, which was pretty great and allowed me to use the pedal's cabinet modeling and effects in stereo, but I prefer the feel and sound of this amp and speaker. Yes, it colors the sound, I think in a good way.

I see what my issue was with the Blackstar now .. seeing “Club 40” in the name Id assumed it’s was a blues amp /“Blues Club”/‘Club -night Blues jam’ . It’s misnamed imo should be called a “Chug 40”

Btw whats that tone called.. is it a Rectifier / Threadplate type sound?

So not a shit amp per se ,just horses for courses.
We were doing Jon Spencer /White Stripes/ Stooges covers :hihi: :ud:

As an aside re it’s quality tho;
That blackstar goes for $1400 AUD new. Sounded just like my old Jet City 333 40W head + 1x12” cab. ($600-$700 new)
The same EL34/ECC83 valves combination afaik.
It’s prob made in the same factory in China too tbh.
I had a boutiquey “Victory” amp head briefly it was the same kind sound also.

What amps does Jack White play ? some weird old retro amp or a Supro probably.

I need a Supro Black Magik.
Or a Magnatone maybe…Or a Dr Z-Wreck
Or whatever Jimmy Page used on Zeppelin II
And Glynn Johns to work the mixing desk
:hihi:

This is more what I was thinking id get when I plugged in to the blackstar..

That AC30 meets Plexi tone 8)

$3-$4K for that model tho
Is there something like this available .. but on a budget ?? :o

See that pedal on the floor in the first video? That’s where most of the tone is coming from. It’s a Fuzzrite.

Well well well ..I did not spot that !
Interesting. Yep I hear a bit of fuzz there now .

So you’re saying most of the tone is *mainly* coming from the lil $300 box and not the $4000 amp and speaker. Hmmm Ok

Seriously tho, I did read he used a cranked AC30 for most of the Raw Power record. So a class A Vox type I’ll try find. Plus my cheap lil Dano fuzz :tu:

Btw has there been any development in super light amps/ combos ..? I saw Blackstar had a St.James model afaik

Tonex isn’t just for guitar amps. It’s just as capable of capturing a pedal. I use it (the plugin) for that all the time. Sounds great.

I do also keep one analog pedal, as I think it sounds great and acts as a buffer before my audio interface. It’s a Blackstar HT-5 Dual tube distortion. I wouldn’t bring it to gigs or rehearsals, though. I got a great deal on an HX Stomp XL that included Helix Native. I’d go directly into the PA with that.

Last year, I was inspired to build myself a pedal board. Not as extensive as the ones I sported in the 90s, but something fun that had good performance attributes and sounded great. I bought a bunch of cool pedals from Wampler, Electro-Harmonix, Gamechanger, etc. They were great, but I then set up similar designs using Helix native (demo), Tonex-Amplitube and other plugins, that sounded as good and were a lot more flexible. I returned everything and got the HX, which I now use on my Prophet 12. I don’t really need it, but I figured if I ever do want to leave my hermit hole, it might be useful. I can also use my dual axis expression pedal for some trippy effects.

Thanks E .
I wonder how loud an AC15 goes.I know a good AC30 is very loud , 15w might work w rehearsals :tu: Vox’s keep their value on used market tho.. hard to find a “cheap” one, where I am.

I had my eye on this Laney VC30 at my favourite 2nd Hand gear shop MSS ( it’s my mecca in Melbourne) but it’s just sold. Those Laneys are not really the same sound tbh either and it was a fixer upper so..

Another aside, tube Amps are funny that way re wattage/output. 30w of one does not equal 30w of another in volume for example. The loudest amp I ever had was a Fender 40w Tweed Blues Deluxe reissue w 6L6 tubes 1x12 . That beast could crack windows on 4 volume :o

Their Frontman 212 100W is also a great cheap very loud amp. if anyone was looking for a big clean, ballsy and cheap 2x12 amp itd b perfect. Could channel modellers with it well I’d imagine.

Size and weight are considerations at my age / back. I may have to bite bullet and get a modeller to go via the PA ,thinking about it now..the signs of old age creeping in.

Im missing my old Jet City 333 now. super portable and a reasonable clean /breakup tone. Very usable EQ. And bulletproof :o Sheeit.
They are $450 used for the mini stack , maybe $250-$300 for head only.
