How does it work? tbh I'm not really keen on using the loopback driver or whatever. lack ofShabdahbriah wrote: Mon Aug 05, 2024 9:15 pm F.i.n.a.l.l.y available for Windows.![]()

I picked up Newfangled Generate a few days back. It's been on my "maybe someday" list for a bit, and a sale finally lined up. It's a simple synth, but it seems to be able to create an impressive variety of sounds. Learning the affect of each knob in the primary oscillator section is where the time investment seems it's going to be. That and learning the modulation system.
I've only had a very small amount of time to play with it so far, since I had some extremely urgent personal matters rise up, but so far I'm liking it a lot. But, rather than this just being a "list" thread, I thought I'd share some presets I've made while experimenting (same MIDI file for each, not writing a song here):

I'm not keen on those either, and it would definitely be very convenient were it a Vst.pekbro wrote: Mon Aug 05, 2024 11:01 pmHow does it work? tbh I'm not really keen on using the loopback driver or whatever. lack ofShabdahbriah wrote: Mon Aug 05, 2024 9:15 pm F.i.n.a.l.l.y available for Windows.![]()

I'm generally feeding any stand alone app like this one directly into my modular, and usually recording everything, or at least "keepers" into a BitBox 1010, and/or grabbing snippets with Roland Scoopers which loop it nicely for further processing, and/or directly into the Waldorf NW-1, and/or Supercell (bigger 'Clouds'). Although often concurrent with, or independent of that, I'm recording into one of my digital records (sony/tascam), then transferring to the box.

The last few years have been "modest" to say the least. But this year I splurged with Cubase Artist and East West Hollywood Orchestra Opus edition.
Buyer remorse. Seems like every other time I open Cubase something goes haywire. Either I fix it and forget what I did or I restart the program and it doesn't have the issue it had previously. Nonetheless I've made it my primary daw.
Buyer remorse with EWHO Opus. I got it, quickly tired of the included opus presets. Then I discover Sonuscore The Score.
I'm in love but it's out of my financial range.

Like a lot of his stuff, its got a built-in recorder. Though on my setup I can send as 'windows audio' to my EMU1820, which can then route via ADAT into my main soudcard becoming regular ASIO channels.pekbro wrote: Mon Aug 05, 2024 11:01 pmHow does it work? tbh I'm not really keen on using the loopback driver or whatever. lack ofShabdahbriah wrote: Mon Aug 05, 2024 9:15 pm F.i.n.a.l.l.y available for Windows.![]()

arturia buchla and synthi, not a big fan of bloated cpu hungry arturia plugins but those two are weird and awesome, not a lot of alternatives also, i have aalto cm and reaktor synth in a case ensemble but thats about it, i love weird noises, dont hate

Ableton 12 - moving from Maschine + Reaper
Ableton is better than maschine obviously- but I was so used to arranging in reaper, had it programmed to for like a glove, that Ableton is still sore going sometimes. Still edit podcast in Reaper
UAD Avalon 737 - love at first drive!
NI Flesh & Razor - both a tonne of fun.
Waves Clarityvx - sometimes izotope works better sometimes it doesn’t. Good tool.
Also Airwindows Consolidated!!! Love this thing!! I use ConsoleMD on all projects
Thank you Chris!!

Sonic Charge Microtonic: I used an edu discount on it, and it is an amazing drum synth that is light on CPU. Very much like the Electribe-R plugin.
Their Echobode plugin is one of the most underrated FX out there. It is a frequency shifter, ring modulator, chorus, phaser, flanger, and delay all in one!! Not to mention, it has MIDI note tracking (good for poly-chained synths in Bitwig's instrument selector).
Tone2 Icarus 3 upgrade: It was worth it for the new filters, FX, and additive/FM modes alone! It can sound as modern as Razor or as vintage as an Ensoniq. I love its tonal palette. Not to mention, its wavetable editor is super useful and has a step brush that lets you make PC Engine or Namco-style waveforms!
UVI Falcon: Got it and sold it once I got Kontakt 7 second-hand. I prefer the combination of the latter and Icarus over Falcon.
Sinevibes Integer: It's an amazing delay with sample rate reduction and chorus. GO GET IT!! IT'S A GNARLY BBD!
GForce impOSCar 3 upgrade: Worth it for the wavetable features.
Imaginando DRC and FRMS: Got them for $16 each. One is an awesome VA, and another is a cool granular synth that I hope gets optimized soon.
NI Razor: I missed it, and I got it again.
GForce Oddity 3: Got it, but then decided I didn't need it.
Newfangled Audio Generate: Bought it for $25 by applying the student discount during the sale. I missed it, and it still stands out!
Virtual CZ: Bought it so I would get EQuivocate. Hoenstly, I can do similar budget digital sounds with Charlatan 3.
Edit: Changed Not into Note
