It should be labeled "not recommended for presetpacks makers and 747 pilots" at this point.

It makes gorgeous sounds, which is most important to me.
And 16 macros + MW + aftertouch + remote octave per patch is plenty for simple minds like me.
I'm lucky it has just the right amount of "simple but not simplistic" i need.
But it takes some time to learn and you have to rtfm.
The improved comb filter makes these karplus- strong sounds really strong this time, send that into the unison chorder, delicious!

I also like how that "boring" blank interface slowly comes to life as I start setting saturn rings.
I also like the synth. But for me as a beginner in the world of synths is just a bit complicated. I did understand Serum way faster. But I never bought Serum, because why I should spend more money on a synth, if am not able to use Massive right :scared:

Anyone have a guess?
Sounds and presets for UVI Falcon "Iterata X".
Bazille soundset - Crystalline Textures 3.

Frankly I don't think even u-he plugins have one million owners. The only thing that might reach that number is probably Kontakt...

You can load additional 3 oscillators if you want to in insert slots. They won't wavetable (I don't think they need to considering the main two WT oscs are better than anything else on the market) but they will definitely support the sound.
_leras wrote: Tue Aug 06, 2024 3:51 amLFOs... The LFOs take up tons of space and the shapes are just a bit limited and weird... Why??
Because Mike Daliot said so. The shapes were carefully chosen (although I myself don't know the reasoning behind each of them), they sometimes behave a little different in Uni/Bi modes as far as starting phase etc. It's quirky but it's all Mike.
Thank you I had over looked those oscillators. They are not that easy to use in the insert slots... but they sound pretty decent. There's so much surface area to this synth. I slowly learn more!

I wonder if the LFOs would be more intuitive with a more graphics display. That said, they probably also look a bit odd, just because of the dial they are in...On the plus side you can have 7 and 2 envs... and they have some reasonably good controls.

And I don't mind at all that it's an opinionated synth driven by a singular vision. For every quirk there's a cool oddity as well. I'd much rather have it as it is, than a more vanilla design and choices.

I've never found massiveX particularly challenging or limited.

It has its specifics in terms of workflow but it's not that hard to get your head around.

The main thing is that it's still one of the best sounding synths out there.

I think it might be the most pristine synth I've ever heard.

im a fan of massive x, i suspect it doesn’t hurt that i wasn’t a big og massive user so going in a different direction with x wasn’t an issue for me. it won’t ever be my go to synth, just because i can throw together basic stuff faster in phase plant or many others, but it certainly serves a purpose when i need to design certain types of elaborate and detailed patches, and it sounds so good. the gui can be a bit of a chore but at the same time i can appreciate that its structured in a unique way that gets me taking different approaches creatively than i might otherwise. there’s a lot about massive x that i initially wasn’t big on, its by no means a simple synth, but it’s grown on me quite a bit. there’s lots of features and details that aren’t huge deals individually (exciter envelopes, some of the unique effects modules, the ability to get creative with your feedback routings and for that matter, the routing page in general, some of the unique wavetable processing options, etc), but it all adds up to an interesting product thats basically become my sort of secret weapon/change of pace synth thats probably irreplaceable for me at this point. and again, it sounds so great

What do you mean? They are polyphonic!

Looks like a mistake/typo. The comment was about MSEGs, so it should have been "performers are not polyphonic".

Post

Right, that'd make more sense, heheh.

Post

Exactly, I meant the performers. If I want to make a long evolving sound, like when you press a key and one layer get louder and the other layer get quiter, or maybe some other parameters are changing over time - that could be better in Massive X.

Post

It’s fascinating that their flagship synthesizer isn’t compatible with the full range of features their MIDI controllers offer. Are we looking at 2057 for polymorphic aftertouch for Massive X?

Probably quite a lot sooner than that, if I had to hazard a guess. But don't ask me when exactly. :D

I’ll believe it when I see it… It’s been two years with zero new synth features.

Post

MIDI mapping not being available for all parameters is unconscionable. Hardest ball drop of all time and something that has caused me real frustration.
