But why not just use the PA then?? Save ur back.
It's an all tube bass amp. The power section is basically a Tweed Bassman with double the power. The effects return bypasses the preamp section completely and only goes through the presence control, phase inverter, and power tubes. Completely different from a PA. Plus, it has a 15" driver and no tweeter, that smooths out all the modeler harshness that you (and I) don't like.

Another reason is because I'm also a bass player.
Hmmm well IME, putting a modelling unit into the Front End of amp gives a weird result IME.
Yes. 100%. You need to go in the effects return or power amp input. That will make all the difference.
Fx loop routing -pretty sure it was the same results /issues w my experiments.(older units granted but.. I don’t see how newer get over dis problemo)
It depends on the circuit. Many Fender and Peavey amps have preamp out/power amp in jacks. That's the circuit to use. A lot of amps (including mine) have that loop circuit even when the jacks say Send and Return.
What do you think of the quality of the NUX modelling tho .. compared to Tonex out of interest.
What do u hear good/bad
Based solely on the video you posted, it sounds harsh and biting. Almost as bad as his accent! ;)
Post away dude I wanna see/hear the tonez :tu:

Just how it may perform turned up with a Beast
behind a big ,loud AF drum kit going Bosh! crash! BOOM!BOOM!
That was also the problem to overcome laid out in my OP. Getting great full-sounding guitar tonez in a rehearsal w a drummer. A lot of ‘real ‘amps don’t cut it even. esp the shitty cheap “rehearsal room rental’ amps.
Low end gets swallowed up by the bass player and high end gets swallowed up by the drummer. I used to be in a band with a guy who had a 100 watt Dual Rectifier, and that's exactly what happened to him. The audience couldn't hear him at all, he just sounded like white noise because there was no midrange, as opposed to my 22 watt Deluxe that was all midrange and cut right through.

That sounds epic. Love that idea of smoothing out the harshness. Clever clever. Well done :tu:

Noted. will try that in my future experiments with a modeller if I go down that road.

That’s ok I’m not a native with the Oissie twang, just live here :P
Hmmm harsh and biting eh.. I’ll give another listen then. He’s alright LT not the worst. Not my style of music but.

True that. I’m missing the bass is probably why I struggle with the tone. Split stereo into a guitar + bass amp maybe . What would a guitar sound like into a bass amp ? Like Shit probably :D

Just bought the cheap RAT, chorus and a cheap ModTone Tremelo. Collecting and testing tmrw .
This shop is cool. They have a 3 day grace period change of mind policy on everything so can swop n change if necessary.

As an aside , dis cheap Joyo KLON sounds very good :o may pick it up also. :hyper:

I have the Dream 65 Reverb pedal, it's pretty damn good. The speaker sim looks great as well,
the control app on the other hand seems like a huge letdown for many. I guess it wont stay connected to the unit apparently. Which is disappointing for an expensive pedal. I have never used it for the one I have, but the speaker sim, that would be a different story...

IMO, the way to do the Ox Stomp is to connect it once, create and save 6 good and simple rigs (no effects or EQ’s added), and then never connect again. It has enough controls onboard that the app isn’t as necessary as people think.

I guess that's true, still they should make a desktop app for them, they've already got a usb connection.

I’d be very pissed with that.

I actually bought that pedal to try out the 0% interest payment plan at AMS, it was pretty
hassle free. Looks like they are about $350 atm

Well, now you’re moving the goalposts by adding the “amp in the room” aspect, but that’s a different story. I can easily get that using room emulation and stereo IRs. I’m also studio bound. My first modeling rig that I built way back when, used two Peavey KB60s and I was satisfied with my live sound, and actually often got compliments from other guitarists who were confused by my weird setup.

But I wasn’t suggesting Tonex as an amp replacement. I was suggesting that you capture, or find captures of, your favorite pedals. The Tonex Max library is full of amazing captures of fuzz, OD, tube preamps, etc. Use it as your all-pedal so you can switch from a TS-9 to a Rat, to a Klon, etc. I personally love the sound of a pushed Fender, and I thought you mentioned that was one of the choices at your rehearsal space.
Mmm nope - goalposts were set as rehearsals/gigs from my OP. But It was as a pretty open thread tbh I have veered off a little re modellers. I like stereo Peavey rig - stereo rigs are fantastic :tu:
I do love a pushed Fender. What’s ur patch for that using your unit out of interest. I’m not familiar with RE / stereo IRs. Sounds like deep diving / tweaking involved tho I don’t have the patience simply.
Still turning any modeller/ sim/ capture up loud enough to compete with big drums .. I think all suffer sound degradation imo. That’s my crux.

Or ‘Crutch’.. haha
Well, like I said, my Tonex suggestion was for pedal emulation. I assumed you’d use one of the amps you mentioned that live in the rehearsal room.

I use Amplitube and disable the cabinet emulation and choose “Custom IR.” You then get a dialogue box that lets you import IRs and/or choose one that you have already imported. I bought a bunch of Ownhammer IRs and there’s usually a stereo version of each cabinet. That’s it, really. Not a lot of tweaking. Nothing close to an AxeFX, which I really like, but it’s got a lot of exposed parameters.

I found that Amplitube could be pretty hit or miss, until I started using Ownhammer IRs on the “misses.” Makes a world of difference. That’s what I use the most, these days, though I will also mix it up and use Helix native or Guitar Rig 7, which has come a long way and is awesome for experimenting.
