Benefits would be things like better plugin efficiency (CPU use), lower latency (I doubt it), multi-threading enhancements - that sort of thing.

In FL , the Melda plugins started acting up and saying stuff about Read/Write permissions. Some other plugin also. That stopped it.

I havent read the full thread, but look at an app called latency mon, it will show you whats eating your resources, disabling the wifi made a huge difference for me

Wifi has always been a problem, with PC's and macs. And bad signal -> even more problems. Also would disable BT.

Updating will not make the difference you may expect, but optimizing Windows will definitely make a difference.

The CPU gets hotter on Windows 11, because the OS is using more AVX code when using security features, which puts more power on it.

I had to reduce my overcked 6 coreb from 5gz to 4,5ghz for all core. Intel 8086k. It was working with higher speed, but the fan became to noisy and some ground taks.
This is an old post, but after watching my temps for over a year; I agree that windows 11 does run a lot hotter. I think if you avoided any conventional mechanical hard drives, and used only ssd's that windows 11 could be better.
With that said, windows 10 had been a better audio development platform for me. I think unless there is an absolute need for it; that audio professionals should avoid windows 11. If it's too late for you; like it is for me; you could consider all ssd's like I suggested, and maybe also consider radical cooling solutions for your CPU and GPU.

Imo, if you're not running a newer i3, i5, i7 or i9; the Thermaltake PS120 SE is the best cooling solution, and you should consider an aio for your gpu for a daw environment. I've noticed vst's using more and more images and vector graphics than ever; which is surprisingly hard on the cpu, because of the computations. It's too bad that VST3 or Pro Tools formats do not put that processing load onto the GPU, so to reduce latency overall; maybe in a VST4 scenario, it could be a reality.

If you use ultra thin fans like arctic or phantek makes, you could potentially send air flow into the cooling fins of the PS120 SE from either side on both manifolds. I think the competing air systems blowing through those steel fins from either side would be more effective, and act like a fridge or freezer's compressor. Perhaps that would be enough to lessen the effect of windows 11 on your CPU overall. Maybe though; a really good AIO is the only solution.

One interesting thing to note; is that I'd realized that encryption was turned on in Windows 11, even though I had tried to avoid it, and followed all of the guides to circumvent it. The less my cpu has to do the better I'd thought; especially due to the realization that my fast, reliable yet aging motherboard does not have a TPM.

Actually, I did notice my project load times did slow down once I upgraded, but also it's a free upgrade and support is a thing, so I went for it. Not seeing any other downsides, and performance seems the same.

win11 will default to virtualisation based security on hardware that supports it - and that will cost you a bit of speed.
