Audient EVO SP8. What’s the deal?

Hi. Has anyone used this with ADAT? I’ve never used Audient preamps or interfaces before and was wondering how these would compare to let’s say, the new Clarett+ Octopre. It’s $300 cheaper, but appears to have everything the Octopre has besides the Air switch. I’m trying to figure out what the catch is. Is the quality not there? I don’t have a way to demo them at a store, so I’d have to return them and was trying to avoid doing that if possible. Thanks.

I have one that I just bought to extend the 18i20 and push 3, but I haven’t recorded anything via mic input yet. I do have a Shure SM7B, fed through an Art Pro Pre into the SP8, but just haven’t used it.

So far running Oto Boum and Opsix didn’t reveal anything other than what it should be. I haven’t measured the noise floor, but I don’t hear anything recorded.

Now I will say that having it, I prefer knobs per function, vs the single knob, which on my unit was slightly skewed on delivery.

The motion UI talk is just marketing talk. It’s a tiny screen that I find less helpful than the led meters on the 18i20.

The function that is supposed to shine with these units is the smart gain. Again, i haven’t used it, but I will soon with the SM7B.
