Interestingly, I couldn't see any midi import options when dragging a midi file into the composition window. What am I doing wrong?

Post

Trim Silence is a checkbox to the right of the text under section 2.

It seems that if there is no CC info in the file then no CC import options are shown (?). If this is the case, then it makes sense to me!

Thanks very much for RC 5.3b9!

Considering possibilities for further powerful evolution of RC (e.g. 5.4), at this point I would like to re-surface an idea that didn't seem to gain any traction last time I brought it up.

IMO, Structure would be an excellent choice as the next major area of enhancement. Please see:

RC recognizes and provides powerful generatory assitance with both both phrases and chord progressions. Structures are the next frontier!

Please users share your thoughts on this subject area, and Attila too!

Thanks kindly.

I think by default "Display MIDI import options" is set to "Auto" which means the options are displayed for a multi-track file or a file containing MIDI CC's.

So a single-track MIDI file with no MIDI CC's will not display the new options popup which should look like

But you can set the above setting to "Always" if you prefer that, under Settings / Miscellaneous / MIDI Import.

Post

Hi Attila. If I understand correctly, then NON-multi-track files should display the options window when dragging a midi file and with the Auto option selected? This does not happen for me. I do not see this window, which is in your picture.

Post

Neither Auto nor Always show the options window when dragging.

That is indeed a good idea. I added this to the to-do list for v5.4.
Thanks!

Do you drop MIDI files on a track, or maybe in the Phrase Editor? I have implemented this for dropping files on a track.
Did you try other MIDI files as well?

Post

Any midi files in the composition window. I can shoot a video.

Post

Yes, it works now, but it appears when the file has already been dragged

Post

I can't explain this. It works on macOS when I set it to "Always", any small MIDI file displays the options :(

Post

Yes, you have to drop the file first, then the options appear. Clicking outside the options window will finalize and import the file.

Post

But it's strange that it doesn't work when dragging onto the track head.

Post

Can you guys do some testing on this new drag and drop? For example, try dropping a midi phrase with CC and save it to the browser. Then drop it from the browser back.

In my tests, the phrase midi only partially saves..

Also, if you can think of anything else were this matters, please do it.

Post

Then you get the issue when it now works.. lol.. All I did was quit and re-start.. so, that in itself is something to watch for..

but, overall, looking good..
