For two people at the same time it can be tricky if both are not familiar with the DAW and tools. But it can work well if one person drives the DAW while the other or others add some parts.
Having lots of opinions in a room can help catch a vibe on good ideas, and also reject ideas quickly. Can be really fun.
Working relay style can also be good, but there are fewer opportunities to discuss individual sounds, or to help push an idea a bit further. It can definitely work well, but you need to be clear when you don't like something and also prepared for your parts to be removed or rewritten.

Mixing only. Usually go to another room and hang out while they mix their version. And when I come back I’m able to compare the mixes with fresh ears.

i always keep a girl in the other room...THE INTRANCER wrote: Sun Aug 11, 2024 1:23 am Don't think I've seen an actual topic on this, but I thought it might be interesting. Personally I've not sat next to someone to compose a piece of music with using a DAW. My Dad could play five instruments, and he heard what I had composed during the 1990s with the computers I had but as far as using a DAW together, it didn't happen. My musical ventures did go off in a few different directions but strictly speaking, my composing has always been a solo passion of mine with a computer and alone.
