Yes, Discovery Pro has many more features than the original (and Nodal Red 2X effectively 'is' the original in terms of sound and limitation) but it will be completely free once out of Alpha as are all the Usual Suspect Emulators.discoDSP wrote: Tue Aug 13, 2024 3:09 pm Thanks for your interest, but comparing a Nord Lead 2X emulator to Discovery Pro isn’t really accurate. When you look at the features side by side, it’s clear that Discovery Pro offers more advanced options and innovation. Its quality speaks for itself and goes beyond what the original Nord Lead offers.
As far as we know, Nodal Red 2X is donation-based and requires Clavia’s ROM, which could raise legal concerns. However, we’re glad to have it for comparison, as it only reinforces Discovery Pro as the better choice for producers.
discoDSP updates Discovery Pro Synthesizer to v8.4.0

imho there is nothing innovative about dicovery pro , it's arguru's legacy code + open source tackled on + improved filters
One of the most awesome features of the nord lead2 is the drum mode , you don't have that .
Discovery pro is marketed as a nord lead emulation right from the beginning (why else would you choose a 1:1 gui lookalike ) but it'still doesn't sound like a nord lead .
Nodal red will , and honoustly I would never choose discovery for it's ( your words ) advanced features ...there are far better tools for that .
It's no surprise you announced a new arp .feature just when Nodal Red is announced , you're feeling the heat ..

What a stupid discussion.
Especially as Discovery is neither specifically marketed as a Nord Lead emulation, nor does it have the same feature set as a Nord Lead.
I think we all know why the usual KVR suspects are in this thread.

Well not officially because that would mean legal trouble , but discovery (not pro ) has the exact same featureset as a nord 2 ( minus the drum mode ) , it can load the nord sysex etc..chk071 wrote: Tue Aug 13, 2024 8:38 pm What a stupid discussion.

Discovery pro added a few extras but at it's core it's still tries to be a nord lead emulation .
I have no idea why you would think otherwise

This place is like Mos Eisley sometimes.
All I know is I'm really enjoying this and it sounds great to me, especially with the oversampling up. I'll try the Nord emu too, of course, when it comes out. I've never owned a Lead, but I had the original Nord Modular on the day it came out, and there's something in the Discovery sound that reminds me of the Nord's sound. Or maybe I'm just a sucker for red. Even so, I miss the Modular

The Nord (ROM) Emulation is very basic (as was the hardware), no effects and limited oscillators/filter/controls/modulation. Its fun to play with but most modern VSTs (including Discovery Pro) are going to be much better in most respects... It is interesting to compare both however!

I think the main developer of this vsti:s can't change the preset browser. Otherwise we would already see proper change.

This is what I'm interested in above everything else. No matter what the new features are, I can't bring myself to shell out 50 euros to upgrade until a modern browser is implemented.

Discovery Pro still has the bug in FL Studio with the master volume control, whereby at normal volume everything is too loud and distorted, and when reduced to zero it sounds like it should be at normal volume. There is only about a 6dB difference between min and max volume. This bug has been present for a long time, but is not present in Discovery.
