I really wish that in 2024 we could export the contents of our refills. I've got some cool refills from the early 2000's that I purchased, that I really don't want to purchase again, that I can't use with anything else without going through the manual export everything rigmarole. Really disappointing.
I know the Rack plugin goes someway to alleviating this, but I want to throw some drum samples from these old refills into my Digitakt 2. Le sigh.

You switched from Reason to the Digitakt 2? Why and whats your opinion about the Digitakt 2?Amberience wrote: Mon Aug 12, 2024 2:09 pm I really wish that in 2024 we could export the contents of our refills. Why a Digitakt 2 and not an Oktatrack?
I think about switching, too.

I wouldn't say switched really. I've not used Reason seriously since probably 10 years now. But I upgraded all the way to version 12. These days I mostly use the Rack plugin so I can have access to the devices, without using the ... ahem.... let's say, not my favourite sequencer.LaLivre wrote: Mon Aug 12, 2024 3:28 pmYou switched from Reason to the Digitakt 2? I got started with Reason at version 1, and have used it on and off since then. That's a long long time. I think I outgrew some elements of it. When they implemented the mixing console, I was already using other DAW's primarily. I doubt I will upgrade to version 13, just nothing in it for me really - and I hate subscriptions.
I've owned a Digitakt 1 for a couple of years now and I really love it. It is one of the most inspirational boxes you can get IMHO. The upgrade to DT2 was a no brainer for me. I guess that explains why I didn't go for the Octatrack too - I was already really familiar with the DT1, having played a bunch of shows and written a bunch of songs with it.
I just wish it had a proper sample slicer built into it, and that it supported REX files.

Interesting interview with Reason's Mattias Häggström:

"“I think we’ll always expand the feature-set, but we’ll expand the feature-set when it makes sense to make stuff better. We’re not the kind of company that adds a feature just because it’s a feature that needs to be ticked off a list somewhere. There will be plenty more features in Reason, but not necessarily every feature you might see elsewhere will come to Reason, just because it ‘should’ be done. We’re going to be picky. It keeps it workable, I think. Add too much and it just becomes clumsy."
So there will another couple of years go by without markers, looper, midi comping, folders, updated modern sequencer, individual shortcuts, independent zoom levels or a simple video support because "this needs to be done" and every other DAW has this?
Very interesting!

Can you press tab while renaming a mixer channel to skip over to the next one and continue renaming channels, yet ???LaLivre wrote: Tue Aug 13, 2024 2:02 pm "“I think we’ll always expand the feature-set, but we’ll expand the feature-set when it makes sense to make stuff better. To then completely ignore it or what?Half of my job is basically figuring out what people care about.
Dude is obviously a complete tool, especially since he seems entirely oblivious as to how catastrophically bad a job he makes. I'm pretty sure that if they would sack him without any replacement whatsoever, both the company and their customers would be way better off.

CEO should leave, too. Sorry for hard words but the whole (product) management is a complete disaster. I guess that any (Reason) musican who has had a short and cheap training course in customer retention and product development would completely outshine these people - for half the salary.

Yeah, you touch on a crucial problem: people in the industry patting each other on the back for the fine job they make....Amberience wrote: Wed Aug 14, 2024 9:54 amjens wrote: Wed Aug 14, 2024 8:17 amTo then completely ignore it or what?Half of my job is basically figuring out what people care about.

If you think your comments here paint you in a good light, then more power to you. Ultimately whatever you say, doesn't really matter and has no effect on anything.jens wrote: Wed Aug 14, 2024 11:35 amYeah, you touch on a crucial problem: people in the industry patting each other on the back for the fine job they make....Amberience wrote: Wed Aug 14, 2024 9:54 amjens wrote: Wed Aug 14, 2024 8:17 amTo then completely ignore it or what?Half of my job is basically figuring out what people care about.

Why would I give a rat's arse? (It's not a rethorical question by the way.)Amberience wrote: Wed Aug 14, 2024 11:51 am If you think your comments here paint you in a good light, then more power to you.
Well obviously - just as is the case with whatever you say and as is the case with most any conversation both on- and offline. but thanks for sharing your deep insights with me.Ultimately whatever you say, doesn't really matter and has no effect on anything.
