Or how to when you hold all the IP cards and still become the bottom of the barrel
26 months now since the last new instrument plugin

all those requests for new stuff and never for the tape echo....
RolandCloud management: we got you! Here is the 20th version of the tape echo.

Not the JP8000/8080
Not the Alpha ( do not want it anymore BTW, TAL audio got me covered)
Not the JX10
Not the MKS80
Not the MKS7
Not the Vsynth GT
Not the SVC350
Not the SBF325
Not the R8

But a tape-echo that nobody asked for. And we all have in multiple versions ( I know I do)
I even have more not installed even :D

They now have a deal for the JD-800 and 4 patch collections, and all that is $50 less than the Space Echo plugin. :hihi:

To be fair, while I never asked for a Space Echo plugin, I'm the one who pointed out to Jon how utterly dead the Legendary FX section was (until last month, the only release was the Juno chorus in...how many years?), and that the RE 201 was an obvious choice for an official RC plugin.

that, and a virtual Boss stompbox with all the classic pedals.

Soo...I suppose you can blame me if we got another Space Echo instead of the JX-10 ACB

It is Great that they make some effects too but the problem is that most People already have the effects they need and are familiar with.

There is a limit to how many delay and reverbs you need and Roland have priced most of their products to high to be able to compete in todays saturated sw market.

The code for the Tape Echo already existed it's what powers the Boss RE-202 pedal

It was a simple port to turn existing code running on bespoke Roland chips to a plugin using the same emulator they use for all the other plugins

It was literally the lowest of low hanging fruit

On the flip side, maybe if I rented a synth for a month I'd be compelled to, you know, actually finish a damned track for once.

Post

I've been working on the same track for about three years now. None of the parts have survived from the original idea. None of the instruments. I must be on version 1001 by now. But ... I think I'm learning loads of useful things along the way. I keep telling myself that anyway.

All of these requests on Jon's list will be lost in time like tears in rain.

I'm still waiting for Roland to fix Galaxias in Studio One even though they were able to duplicate the problem. Since I already paid for a year (at least I got my 2 synths out of it) I won't renew if they don't fix it by time the sub expires.

Yeah, well, I mainly wanted the two synths I got for signing up and if Galaxias had worked like it was supposed to I may have renewed but since they're not fixing the issues with it and I already got the synths I wanted as it stands now, I won't be renewing. I'm not impressed with them at all.
