Logic has plugin sandboxing. It has had it since the move to arm. I’m not sure if it has anything to do with the dual buffer thing. Reaper may just feel like it’s unnecessary given how efficient the thing is already.machinesworking wrote: Tue Aug 13, 2024 2:45 pm I thought for sure Bitwigs sandboxing was going to be the next trend, but i get the impression there are issues with implementing that in CPU saving DAWs like Reaper and the other dual buffer DAWs. Reaper hints that it should only be used on suspect crashy plugins for instnance.
AI will be implemented, but I think unless someone gets the basic XO features of similarity search just right it's going to be a gimmick.
Personally what I would love to see is UX improvements as forefront. I would like to see DAWs improve on existing features they quickly implemented to keep up, then don't even pay attention to anymore. For instance in Logic the old plugins have GUIs from 20 years ago, that don't scale. In DP it's the same, and DP needs content browser improvements. In Bitwig the touch features are more or less abandoned, the multi monitor support got soundly trounced by Live's far superior implementation. Improving on old features doesn't sell like AI drummers do though.
Here is my issue with Logic. It was the same issue with GarageBand on IOS. Apple prioritizes their mobile version vs the desktop version sometimes. GB had Live Loops (clip launcher) well before it got implemented in Logic. The mobile version of Logic has an updated browser, and updated UIs for all of the plugins even if they are a bit generic. It even has an Ableton like view for plugins and an updated darker theme. When will these be ported back to Logic on the desktop? Who knows.
