Are plugins too expensive today? I don't think so.

Here is a sample plugin price list (TDM) from Waves in 1997. Not adjusted for inflation and not including the TDM hardware used to run them.

So it's actually from the liner notes of The Cure's Disintegration.

Notice that it says it was MIXED to be PLAYED loud, not MASTERED to BE loud.

David M. Allen mixed the album to sound good when it was turned up. But it's up to the LISTENER to turn it up. It doesn't try to snatch the volume control from YOUR hand.

Music that has been mastered to BE loud doesn't sound good when you turn it up.

And that is the reason why it is in my signature.
