Apply MIDI Tools in a chain: You can now chain MIDI Tools together so that you can keep editing their parameters and see the changes reflected throughout the entire chain. The chain is created when a Generator or Transformation is applied to the clip content, and other Transformations are added

In the Tags Editor, clicking on an auto tag for the first time now removes the tag instead of changing it to a user tag.
Made small improvements to the Devices tags group and added new tags to accommodate VST3 auto-tagging.
Live now supports Sound Similarity Searching for 32-bit integer WAV files.
Auto tags are now only visible in the Tags Editor when the Include Auto Tags toggle is on.
Drum Sampler, Simpler and Drum Racks now feature a new entry in their context menus. The entry allows to replace Simpler with Drum Sampler, Drum Sampler with Simpler, or all instances of one of the sampling Devices with the corresponding counterpart in a Drum Rack.
Drum Sampler now supports Similar Sample Swapping.
Updated software text in various areas of Live.
Drum Racks using tags from the "Sounds" tag group now show up in the Sounds label.
Drum Sampler now shows up in the Drums label under Drum Rack.
The Auto Load Groove toggle now features an icon.

Bugfixes:

Phase cancellation no longer depends on the song start time when two tracks are setup up to be canceled via the Utility device's phase inversion buttons.
Pressing the arrow down key in the search field now moves keyboard focus directly to the search results.
Fixed a crash that would occur when moving the Session slot highlight from an audio or MIDI track to the main track or vice versa, without any return tracks present.
Fixed an issue which could cause Live to freeze when encountering certain corrupted WAV files.
Improved performance in the Plug-ins label when using the Group by Creator option.
On macOS, fixed an issue where custom key mappings using the Option modifier would not work.
Fixed an issue that occurred when using a custom tag in a Drum Rack, where unexpected devices would be displayed under the tag.
In the Arpeggiate MIDI Tool, when generated notes would go over the note range, the resulting note is now folded down an octave also when scale is off, and works correctly with tuning systems as well.

Fixed a crash that occurred when undoing the action of splitting an Arrangement clip from the Clip View twice in a row.
The UI is no longer interrupted when the preference "Auto-Warp Long Samples" is set to On and a Live Set containing samples for which there is no .asd file is opened. This means that importing clips from an existing Set will no longer cause an interruption to the UI.

The 12.1 beta is the first one I’ve skipped in years. According to postings on Centercode the early versions were rather unstable, so I decided to wait and just kept waiting, watching it grow.

Hoo boy, once they’ll release the stable version it’ll almost be like Live 13. Looking forward to all those new features, really exciting.

How does it work and what's the use case? I'm not sure I get this right.

you can bring back an earlier stage of the chain, and by modifying it, the later elements of the chain will be rebuilt on the modified generator-transformer output

for ex can use the generators again without losing the transformers

12 vs 12.1, AL 12 the generator kills previously set transformers

12.1 keeps them it works with chains, not individual devices
