If I could make a kick in vital and then run it through the the SMP... would that be legal?

I would therefore say: No, not legal.
"Can I freeze one kickdrum kick and copy it all over the place to get a stable kick" is sort of a similar question, asked at times in the past. And the reply was always: No, you can only freeze the whole tracks, not a single kick in order to copy it.
But @Richard, you have the final word.
On top of that, Vital gives you so much tools to shape the sound of a kick, 3 filters with drive, compressor, EQ, distortion ... and all that is modulateable. Have you ever tried to modulate EQ highshelve and/or distortion amount with a punchy Env? ontop we can use EQ+Compressor to shape spectrum and punch outside of the synth.

When you run a kick through the sampler and then comb filter it, it makes a great harp or guitar. Not trying to make a kick with it. And all the other guitars aren't as good. Like you can just use the factory samples like Jazen or Eric Bowman on YouTube do but not as good. Though combined with guitar rig (going to 11) you can definitely get guitars.] Peter:H [ wrote: Sun Aug 18, 2024 6:28 amRichard said earlier in this thread, when I asked him: Samples that come with the Synth are allowed. Vital
Best guitar: drum sample (kick or very short hat) through the comb filter
2nd best: factory sample into the delay unit plus note (key) tracking. But has a glide on it so it's one note per instance. And doesn't go to higher registers as delay only goes to 1 millisecond.
3rd: factory sample through the comb filter
4th: anything not using the sampler, it seems
In my opinion anyway.

Damn, that was cool.TheNeverScene wrote: Sat Aug 17, 2024 12:46 am I think for legal OSC scratching, just utilize the pitch/filter automation of a synth....I used Synth1 to try and replicate the weird horny/kazoo scratchy sound in this... I did all the music from scratch, guitars/drums/whatever (trying to keep it true to the original) and the vocalist and drummer from my old band did the vox....
I might incorporate that approach as well no matter what kind of tape or scratch plugin I might choose, just to get another flavor.

...I stumbled across this preset I already owned called "Classic Guitar TNS". No idea who this TNS fellow is but they made a very nice guitar in Vital without using any sample. Oscillator one pink noise through the comb filter.empphryio wrote: Sun Aug 18, 2024 10:20 am Vital

I use that same preset all the time (including this time) and I was a classical guitar major in college (a very long time ago). haha
Thanks! One of my better attempts at a Karplus-Strong guitar. (The learning curve was Serum, then Surge, then Vital) If you have aftertouch, it does the vibrato/pitch bends.
Just a touch of EQ and a tickle of compression

Once again, I can't sleep, so I'm working on more ideas for my entry to this month's challenge.
I've been watching some old Star Trek episodes on one of my monitors, working on my song and thinking about the episodes and the sometimes crude plot.
DAW: Studio One
Synth: Vital free Version and Tripple Cheese Free Version(u-he)

OK. Here is DrBob's track for this challenge. I used Synth1 and Triple Cheese for my synths. Hope you enjoy this light jazz tune. Very light use of FX this round, just basic mix EQ and some OTT for for dynamics on the percussion, but generally letting the sounds of the synths shine through without modification. Most sounds go to a instrument or percussion reveb buss - I had to add reverb to the hats separately, on the buss they added what sounded like "hiss" to the overall sound (basically the reverb time was longer than most hat hits, so their reverb sounded throughout, which I just did not want! Dry was not quite right).

DAW: Reaper
Track Details: 12 * Synth1, 8 * Triple Cheese, 20 * ReaEQ, 1 * Bass Professor, 4 * Oril River, 3 * TDR Nova, 8 * OTT
Master: SlickEQ, MSED, Limiter No. 6
Meter:SPAN, Youlean Loudness Meter
Stats: LUFS: -14.3 dB, DR: 11

Hey everybody. Here's my entry for this round.
I had never played with Synful Orchestra before, so I decided to give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised at how much this synth packs into such a small size (compared to multigigabyte orchestral sample libraries). I supplemented it with SQ8L for some additional "acoustic" sounds, and I think what came out was a decent sounding orchestral mockup.
Made in Cakewalk. 1x SO, 5x SQ8L. ConvologyXT, OTT and W1 Limiter as the external FX.

20 instances of Reaper 6.83 using Vital and a good bit of OTT.
And ReaLimit, ReEQ, OrilRiver, Valhalla Supermassive, Raum, Replika, TDR Nova,Transient Shaper and JS: Note Filter
Yes it might sound a bit like some other song. I'm OK with that. Was unintentional and still a different song.
Now off to NY for the US Open. In a great mood in part because of a medical discovery I've made. But perhaps in part because of this track.
