Hi there! i'm looking for recommendations for saturators that don't tear the sound, but are harmonious, with a pleasant sound. Thank you

Something about what he said resonated with you, so why not take him literally and perhaps explore what sorts of saturation effects Tom Scholz from Boston is known for? Maybe Overloud TH-U ROCKGUY?
That's where my mind would go. I like starting with an audible sound I can hear rather than an intangible concept. But I'm sure some people work the opposite. Do you agree that music by Boston would be characterized by a pleasant sound? To me it's kind of like a mainstay of classic rock radio, and a little boring. I wouldn't set out to emulate it ... but they have a lot of platinum albums. Definitely a different feel when contrasted with Nirvana, who he uses as a counter-example.

Solid State Logic Native X-Saturator is on sale for $10 on AudioDeluxe right now. I don't know how it compares to others, but I think it matches what you're looking for.

When hearing 'silk'... is this a reference to the Neve circuit? If so, there is Kiive Audio making the NFuse.

PSP Saturator is what you are looking for. Nice audio fattening without obvious distortion.Pinkfloydian5 wrote: Fri Aug 23, 2024 1:42 am Hi there! i'm looking for recommendations for saturators that don't tear the sound, but are harmonious, with a pleasant sound. Thank youhahaha

Used to own a Neve MBP with the Silk circuit... Wavesfactory Spectre can get pretty close to that sound using a combination of the shelf and bell saturators in parallel.

Decapitator by soundtoys is very silky smooth sounding. Verve analog machines by UAD is also starting to become a favorite as it has many different flavors of drive and saturation. The “sweeten” or “Glow” can be very silky but smooth.Pinkfloydian5 wrote: Fri Aug 23, 2024 1:42 am Hi there! i'm looking for recommendations for saturators that don't tear the sound, but are harmonious, with a pleasant sound. I would avoid cheap plugins just because they are cheap or on sale. You’ll end up buying multiple things instead of buying the right thing. Best of luck!

In all seriousness though:Pinkfloydian5 wrote: Fri Aug 23, 2024 1:42 am Hi there! i'm looking for recommendations for saturators that don't tear the sound, but are harmonious, with a pleasant sound. Thank youhahaha

Looking at your moniker I think looking at/listening to Sneaky Little Devil, and then watching some of the tutorials and checking out the plugins of the brain behind it won't do you much harm:

Free until 15 September.
For my taste, tube saturation in this plugin is pleasant.
