And when you've got a products line in the many hundreds, it's not strange or surprising that some will be abandoned. Still sucks for sure but most would still work for a while longer at least.

But yeah, Izotope/NI products are good. Some of the best in the game.
It's true, Ozone and Neutron are excellent.

All the same, I'm moving on to other solutions that I think will be more likely to get future support.

Yep. They were all bought in 2021 by a multi-billion investment company called 'Francisco and partners'.

The new group was called Soundwide for a while, but this changed back to Native Instruments because NI was, and still is, market leader in this market. They just became a bit bigger now that PA and Izotope are added.

In short, the changes were because many investors saw money to be made in the music production market. There's been a lot of these kind of investment buys in the last few years : For example Avid was bought. Fender was bought and then bought Presonus. SSL was bought by a company which also bought Slate. Imageline was bought and then bought UVI. And so on. All by investment companies.

There is always “money to be made” if the price is right. But sometimes that comes from liquidating their assets and canibalizing their IP.

Totally fair call.

I know NI have abandoned quite a few products, what about izo? I only use Ozone, but just purchased RX to clean some old Dictaphone recordings.

iZotope purchased Exponential Audio, only to liquidate its assets and cannibalize its IP.

I sincerely hope that Acon catches up to RX. I use RX all the damn time to clean up field recordings and old VHS audio. Nothing comes remotely close to its features and effectiveness. Their algorithms are just insanely good.

iZotope have abandoned tons of their products. However Ozone, Neutron and RX are their core products, I don't think they'll be going anywhere unless the entire company closes.
Take a single oscillator, producing a drone. Send it to the wave shaper, altering the tone.
This can be a triangle, Sawtooth or a square. Modulate the pulse width, nobody will care

jamcat wrote: Thu Aug 22, 2024 11:21 pm So the question then is, will you still be able to authorize your iZotope products if they get culled in further reorganization, or if iZotope isn't able to pull itself from its death spiral?
iZotope also support iLok activation and this is what I use for my licenses (with a dongle). Safer that any challenge/response offering.

Plugin Alliance so far seem to still have their old license file too which allows offline activation. So that only leaves NI and I ditched them after they took away my old plugins with the demise of Software Center.

NI should put all their ressources into Reaktor because that's what I want

As much as possible, I avoid all Francisco partners software.

Alas, I still use Kontakt and Replika XT. Maybe one other. All the rest have been deleted or replaced (and that was a lot).

I have the full suite of iZotope software and have for a long time. Mixing, mastering, and restoration is something that AI moving forward will continue to get better at, ironically iZotope puts more AI type automatic machine learning stuff in every release

This will be the end of products like Ozone and RX

I sadly think the days for Izotope are numbered. As a long term customer who has the latest versions of each, I can't imagine a compelling reason to upgrade to newer versions. Especially if it's just more AI.

Does anyone have 32-bit installers for any of the seven Exponential Audio reverbs and would share them? iZotope say they no longer have them nor did Mr Carnes when he sold his brand to them.

If you want proof of my licenses before sharing installers please PM me.

As for NI and their sale in 2021 - I knew about Mate Galic as an underground DJ/ VJ in the mid 90s (anyone here watched Viva Trance on Saturday nights?) and it's quite interesting to look at his career path since then.
Selling: Softube custom bundle; Zynaptiq Wormhole

Well they can always go subscription only, It's the usual "solution" when a company can no longer offer a compelling reason for people to upgrade to a new version. Just make them perpetually pay for the old version.
