Waldorf MicroWave as a plugin?

I realize the dust hasn't even settled on the Microwave 1 plugin. But who would be up for a plugin version of the Kyra "VA" synth from Waldorf? I always thought Kyra sounded good. But it's quite large and I think many of my current plugins can cover similar ground. However, a Kyra plugin would still be cool, IMO.

Anyway, great job Waldorf!!
and that´s why it´s so good that it has no onboard Reverb at all.
So can we use our "best in town" Reverbs".
Each his own.
It makes it sound even better
They´ve listened !
GREAT Job @Waldorf ! .....no "anyway", haha

No, I have no issue, the "patch" column in the browser works fine, meaning I can scroll, click wherever and the selected preset appears on bottom. I tested this for quite a while, but boy, did they fix this well this time. But I am on Windows and I updated to 1.18 version just today. Mac versions are still 2 years old and on 1.17 as can be seen on their server.Dumpster Fire wrote: Sat Aug 24, 2024 12:06 pmDo you have an issue with Nave's preset browser whereby the presets listed in the right column will not scroll properly? It's like the browser won't let me scroll past however many presets will fit in the vertical height of that right column. Whenever I try to scroll down to see more presets, the list of presets "snaps back" to last preset selected. (I know that might be hard to visualize. I will post a screenshot of the behavior if need be.) So I basically just need to use the preset increment/decrement buttons to audition presets.SouledOut wrote: Sat Aug 24, 2024 11:06 amActually, I take that back and stand corrected. Seems they released an update like 2 months ago and graphics lag on PC has been fixed. Geez. Took them years. But better late than never I guess. Thank you, Waldorf!SouledOut wrote: Sat Aug 24, 2024 10:20 am Waldorf Nave VSTi for PC graphics are still unstable, not refreshing right, producing glitches and hangups (even on my Radeon 6900XT) and yet they release a new VSTi of basically same nature without ironing out even most obvious bugs on their long existing synth.
Great music company with terrible product support.
I'm using a 14" M1 Max MacBook Pro running macOS Sonoma, btw.
Regardless, I probably won't even use Nave (or Largo or PPG 3.V) going forward now that there is the Microwave 1 plugin which sounds better and has a more functional UI than the rest of these Waldorf plugins to me.
I mean I have no issue NOW, because on previous version the preset browser was hanging like insane, making the instrument unreliable and unusable.
I don't see the point of buying the Microwave 1 if while having Nave already, well, maybe to steer the original hardware synth that I actually own

Thanks for your feedback. Hopefully Waldorf will release v 1.18 for the Mac before long.SouledOut wrote: Sat Aug 24, 2024 1:07 pmNo, I have no issue, the "patch" column in the browser works fine, meaning I can scroll, click wherever and the selected preset appears on bottom. Pretty sure you cannot have a Kyra 1:1 as it uses FPGA processing.Dumpster Fire wrote: Sat Aug 24, 2024 12:10 pm I realize the dust hasn't even settled on the Microwave 1 plugin. Great, thank you. I knew I had to be missing something. This synth is rapidly becoming my favorite option.DrGonzo wrote: Sat Aug 24, 2024 2:36 amAh... that's easy to fix. You have to set the other LFO value (control) to Maximum (or Mod Wheel if you prefer). There is an LFO slot under that you don't have to deal with the controller of the LFO. But yeah an easy fix. I had problem with it as well. It's actually a cool feature.stash98 wrote: Fri Aug 23, 2024 10:03 pm For some reason the LFO does nothing for me. LFO1 or LFO2. It must be user error, as I have tried this on 2 DAWs and same issue.
I go wave 1 modulation under Oc1 and turn the Mod 1 knob to the right, the source is set as LFO1. And...nothing. I try every shape every speed, and I still get nothing. Velocity mod works fine. LFO2 does not work. It's odd. Anyone else dealing with this, or am I just doing something wrong here?

They also lost all records of me having owned and registered PPG 2, 3, Largo and the Attack bundle. I had to send them screen shots of my iLok account so they could allow me to upgrade Largo, which was a pretty lame update, as we all know, but it was almost unusable in v1. I sold my M because it looked like they were never going to fix its LFO sync bug (have they?) and the freelance developer they hired disappeared for a few months without explanation.bmanic wrote: Fri Aug 23, 2024 7:55 pm What a super unprofessional demo download system. Had to create a disposable email just to get to the demo.
Most developers aren’t great at running a business, but Waldorf really takes it to another level. That said, it’s not much money to get what seems like a near perfect emulation of a classic that I’ve GASed for for a long time.

There is nothing particularly different with how FPGAs process instructions. The real hurdle is that the Kyra was a dud, and there are plenty of great plugins that can make similar sounds. Just buy Dune 3.Erik_Lucas wrote: Sat Aug 24, 2024 2:55 pmPretty sure you cannot have a Kyra 1:1 as it uses FPGA processing.Dumpster Fire wrote: Sat Aug 24, 2024 12:10 pm I realize the dust hasn't even settled on the Microwave 1 plugin. The main issue I am having is with the browser in the latest v1.17 of the Nave plugin. The far right patch column will not scroll properly, at least in Cubase 13 Pro on my 14" M1 MacBook Pro. This has been a long standing issue for me (even prior to v1.17). As soon as I select a patch that goes beyond what will fit in the vertical height of that column, the selected patch will always jump back to the bottom of the column (even if it was at the top or in the middle). It seems as if this was either never an issue on the PC or has been fixed in v1.18 (which is a newer version that the 1.17 version on the Mac).
This scrolling behavior is just a bit irritating, that's all. But it doesn't make the plugin "unusable," at least not to me. I'm just glad that Nave, unlike PPG 3.V, provides Small, Medium, and Large interface sizes, though of course it might be nice to smoothly resize (in arbitrary sizes) the plugin as you can with the Microwave 1.
I don't know the details of these things. But is it possible to smoothy resize a plugin like Nave (and others) that feature detailed "skeuomorphic" graphics? Or do the plugin developers need to provide 3 different sizes of these PNG (?) graphics that users can switch between via the Small, Medium, Large, etc. interface size options?

I own Dune 3 and it's great. But I still feel that Kyra sounds nice and a bit different from Dune. I'm sure Kyra was a sales dud, not because of its sound, but because it's hard to sell a relatively expensive pure VA hardware synth these days. If Kyra had included analog filters and was 16 or 24 voice polyphonic, it might have been a worthy competitor to something like the Novation Peak.zerocrossing wrote: Sat Aug 24, 2024 5:59 pmThere is nothing particularly different with how FPGAs process instructions. Indeed. I have no idea what is going on with Waldorf. It's got a few legendary products and have been associated with some legendary product developers but as a company name/brand it has always been screaming "We don't know what we are doing!". I'm just quite sad in seeing that absolutely nothing has changed even in 2024.zerocrossing wrote: Sat Aug 24, 2024 4:22 pmThey also lost all records of me having owned and registered PPG 2, 3, Largo and the Attack bundle.
