SoundMorph: Dust, granular flow motion

I decided to sit down and get used to this thing, i am able to make very unusual sounds out of it, i will add distortion and heavy compression and create dark industrial soundscapes that i thought only Reaktor can make
the coolest thing is how fun it is to just set it to be like sound generator and to add weird effects to it and changing samples and settings, i also added huge amount of IR responses, room, plate and spring reverbs, the results are awesome
i decided to make it my number one instrument for industrial ambient recordings
if you want to get out of Reaktor granular samplers Dust is the way to go

Use a fx chain instead of placing it on a track directly…

it is kind of fiddly to work with it, the LFOs for example even in the lowest speed are not very slow, also no matter the length of the sample will scan it the same speed, that i dont like, they need to download Drone E Reaktor ensemble and see how it is done, precise playhead reading speed and position is what we all want, what we all need, what we all deserve

Unfortunately it hangs Reason 12. I'm guessing it uses the OpenGL framework for rendering the GUI. Reason doesn't get along with some OpenGL plugins that aren't using the latest version of OGL.
Anyway, I tried it in Live and it is very fiddly. I was having a hard time getting anything I liked out of it. Not an instant gratification instrument that's for sure.

is not instant gratification sampler, it needs time to get something nice out of it
for instant gratification i use Inertia Sound Systems Granulizer 2
any sample you drop into it can be made into amazing soundscape

I think I need to add more info.Tj Shredder wrote: Sat Aug 24, 2024 8:23 pm Use a fx chain instead of placing it on a track directly…
As far as I can tell, Dust doesn't pass any audio input whatsoever.
Therefore putting it on an FX chain is simply the same as turning down the output on the intrument.
Or to rephrase, adding it as an effect is essentially the same as using the instrument version on an effect slot.
Unless of course I'm missing something, hence my question. I'm very happy to be proven wrong here because I do want it to interact with the audio input. That said, even the intrument version is astonishingly good.

The FX version allows you to interact with any audio input. Just route your input through at least one of the 8 emitters by selecting 'audio input' instead of 'sample' in the emitter source dialog then you are free to adjust the parameters of each emitter to taste.OscSync wrote: Sun Aug 25, 2024 5:47 pmI do want it to interact with the audio input.Tj Shredder wrote: Sat Aug 24, 2024 8:23 pm Use a fx chain instead of placing it on a track directly…
If you want add a global wet/dry parameter you can add one by just putting Dust into whatever your DAW calls an FX layer in Bitwig

I have the latest version of Reason 12 installed and it works without problems for me.parma wrote: Sun Aug 25, 2024 6:28 am Unfortunately it hangs Reason 12. I'm not a big fan of Dust. It's one of those plugins that looked super awesome but turned out to be a little bit disappointing (for me). I get easier and better results from Torsion which is a Rack Extension for Reason. Doesn't look as pretty as Dust though.

Thanks for letting us know! TimeFlux looks interesting as well, but I went with Dust in the end. Sweet!onerob wrote: Sun Aug 24, 2025 1:29 pm FYI
