Waldorf MicroWave as a plugin?

In Multimode, it does not receive the Program Change even though I have correctly activated the Program Change reception switch in the Settings of the Multi page.

I don't think that's what most people think of when you mention a modern "patch browser." The best software patch browsers don't organize sounds in "banks" or any sort of hardware-centric paradigm at all, IMO.martiu wrote: Sun Aug 25, 2024 7:32 am what do you mean by lack of patch browser? it has a browser for banks and presets, it even creates user bank on first saved user preset
In a modern patch browser, there is both a hierarchical category-based folder system as well as a tag-based filtering/sorting system that operates on one large pool of patches (in addition to the overarching search function which operates on tags preferentially and then multi/patch names). Think of an email client that both stores messages in hierarchical folders but also supports the use of tags that can filter the entire email database across folders. And then provides a separate search function that is "intelligent" enough to weight various search attributes differently/preferentially.
So a software synth patch browser might have a "Bass" folder (as a category) but also allow you to filter the entire library (or just the Bass folder) by "Analog" or "Digital" tags (among others).
I know this sounds snide. But this sort of stuff isn't rocket science in 2024. I don't think Waldorf would even need to develop any browser "technology" of their own. There must be open source "database management" software that they could simply "plug in" as a multi/patch browser.
The one complicating factor is how to maintain compatibility with the hardware Microwave synth which is limited to its bank/multi/patch architecture. An easy way to resolve this would be to treat the browser "categories" as banks and then use tags to sort/filter across banks in conjunction with the keyword search function. So you could use categories, tags, and search to narrowly tailor your patch browser results.
Spectrasonics and u-he's patch browsers are variations on this.

+1, i rate a good patch browser very high !
anyway in the beginning, in the learning phase of a Synth.
But at least is the arrow-key up/down working ( + enter with right-key press)
Thanks for the tipp ! (from whoever it came)
so, its kind of ok-ish.
and i really dig it that it has NO Fx !
so great !
I hate that shit in nearly any other Synth

oh yeah, no categories in the browser, i barely use factory presets, that is why it doesn't bother me at all, but i can see how that can be annoying to some people

The real hurdle is that the Kyra was a dud, and there are plenty of great plugins that can make similar sounds. Just buy Dune 3.Erik_Lucas wrote: Sat Aug 24, 2024 2:55 pmPretty sure you cannot have a Kyra 1:1 as it uses FPGA processing.Dumpster Fire wrote: Sat Aug 24, 2024 12:10 pm I realize the dust hasn't even settled on the Microwave 1 plugin. But who would be up for a plugin version of the Kyra "VA" synth from Waldorf? I always thought Kyra sounded good. But it's quite large and I think many of my current plugins can cover similar ground. However, a Kyra plugin would still be cool, IMO.

Back in the day when I heard Waldorf synths I always though they sounded quite plain, cheesy, weird, bendy (must have been the preset dept.), 'bad synth music synths' Not for cool music of the time. I imagine they are very much the same now. Quite Meh overall.
A synth for demo tracks
I do not understand the hype at all in fact they are very boring and as I listen to the uninteresting bell like tones I realize they have no place in anything I do. Largo is ok for me, sometimes with plenty of work.
Surely any modern WT synth blows this away and is very easily emulated.
Literally zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
It sounds like a nothingy synth to me. Just for some balance.

It's a real opinion. Never got Waldorf really, very dry synths and sounds produced. if one had to point towards the most uninteresting synths ever made it would be Waldorf's.
I guess some people love the cheesy bad synth music sounds. Which is fine, it takes all sorts.

Glad you appreciate a bit of balance. It is just so unexciting.

I always dreamed of the Wave back in the days. Unreachable in those times and still is. Yet, what a beauty of a synth; sonically and also aesthetically. A true Masterpiece!

Depeche Mode and Hans Zimmer only used them for demo tracks. Once it came time to release, they used Serum.Synthman2000 wrote: Mon Aug 26, 2024 4:48 pm Glad you appreciate a bit of balance. It is just so unexciting.

It might be the very best Synth of all Times. People just have no Idea.
