This is a quite interesting product, it's a saturation plugin that comes with multiple parallel stages, along some effects, that makes it unique, and so can be also used as a kind of multi effect plugin.

Hello, I usually like your reviews but you missed this one totally. Wrong sound choices, completely.

Anyway, this plugin sounds great, so many possibilities.

I'm really liking this after demoing it. I already have Coldfire, so it's a bit of a tough sell for me, but it feels like it's a lot easier to do multiband stuff with this one. Wish it had some envelopes and LFOs in there, but we can't have it all haha

This is a nice effect. Lots of options, good quaiity sound, lots of options and "trimmings" (and trim pots). Demoed and purchased.

Thank you for your feedback.

What sounds would have been better?

The algorithms in this sound very weird and almost identical at similar drive amounts. kills the transients beyond a certain point

What an unnecessarily negative comment.
At least add to it that it's just your opinion.

He obviously liked what he did and thought the sound choices were right.

I think he did a good job showing some things this plug in can do.

Really?

I think they all sound wildly different from each other.

Are you sure you didn't have the filter engaged?

Some distortion will smash transients and some won't. You always have the option of mixing some of the original signal back in and the plugin. Not to mention it also has a transient processor.

None.

The sounds you had were well selected, imho.

I switched everything off. even the lil macro FX at the bottom and the AGC. the digital ones "pixel" sound cool and remind me of MBitFun a lot actually, but the ones under the classic and other tabs all seem to clip the same with the addition or subtraction of biasing here and there and do what i would consider to be unpleasant things to the transients. it seems like there is something weird going on with the oversampling too. it changes the algorithms a lot so they practically sound like completely different algorithms at different amounts of oversampling rather than just removing the aliasing.

Hm actually pretty fun things can squeeze (by combo with bottom fx's), through initially was pessimism regards this.
+ lot ways for control\driving input' impact in various stages.
Why not.

Could you upload an example showcasing this issue? That would be very helpful.

I didn't have any issue with the video, but assuming it properly represents the plugin, I really wasn't impressed with Cyberdrive.

For basic saturation, it's definitely not nearly as user friendly as Spectre. For distortion-based FX and sound design, Minimal Rift for broadband processing or Kilohartz Shaper Table + Multipass + the khz FX bundle for multiband processing seems just as good or better than Cyberdrive.

Also since it's 2024 I expect most good plugins to have some kind of visual feedback showing what they are doing - an oscillator, frequency graph, VU meter, etc. - something/anything is better than a static screen.

I'll admit the price is tasty though. But for myself, I don't need another FX plugin I'll use maybe once and then forget about, even if it's cheap or free.
