I will buy Behringer clones the moment they release a Polivoks, CS-80, and Memorymoog clone.

I really do not get why they haven't targeted the classics that are in the 15-50K range like the CS-80, Jupiter 8, and Memorymoog? I would love to buy a Andromeda but they have chip parts that if they go bad there is no replacement.. I often wonder what makes companies miss what seems like obvious choices?

BS-80?

I have no idea, other than they must be extremely difficult to recreate with modern components. If you ever look inside these polysynths, they're a spaghetti network of boards, ribbons, wires, etc. But I share your frustration, it took six years for them to finally release the UB-Xa.

Well they finally got round to the Jupiter, though likely not this year. I think a Jupiter16 is worth the long wait. Personally I'd prefer a Jupiter6. I know UDO do that JP6 type thing but it's frankly a ridiculous price IMO, and the binaural thing seems like a bit of a useless gimmick to me that only sounds good in headphones.

Yeah I have a Memorymoog I've opened up at least a dozen times. Spaghetti is a forgiving term.

Yep the UB-Xa, at the same time Oberheim released the OB-X8. Essentially making the Behringer a price point synth, not a loving recreation of a long lost relic. The might be afraid to release a synth they would actually have to charge 2K for, I wonder how well their System 55 sells at $1600?

No excuse at all for the Polivoks though.

Now that Deckard's Dream MK2 is coming out, MK1's are selling used for pretty cheap (relatively speaking).

Although without the optional extra ring mod unit it's sort of crippled for doing what the cs80 is famous for.

Am I missing something? DD MK2 has been out for years.

Probably my misunderstanding. Their site says “PRE-ORDER” and “Shipping in Autumn 2024” but maybe they’re saying that for some other reason.

Has Behringer provided any indication as to whether the Wave (PPG clone,) Pro-16 (Prophet 5 clone,) or JT-16 (Jupiter 8 clone) will be released first? The one that most interests me is the JT-16. I just like that "Roland Sound" and feel that with the release of the Microwave 1 plugin and Arturia, Softube, and u-he Prophet 5 emulations, I have PPG-style and Prophet 5 sounds mostly covered in software. I realize that there are plenty of Jupiter 8 software emulations as well. But none of these have really captured the tone of that synth, IMO. That's somewhat surprising given that the Jupiter 8 is a fairly simple synth, maybe even simpler than the Prophet 5 given its "PolyMod" section.

Post

No. I get the impression that Prophet is further down the list, as Behringer haven't mentioned it much recently, but they sometimes keep things quiet and spring a surprise on us. As for Wave or JT16 first - who knows? Hopefully JT first as the Wave doesn't excite me at all, never did. Last time I played a real one I found it quite metallic-sounding and nasty if truth be told.

Post

My guess is that they're in advanced stages of testing in terms of prototypes, but are in no rush at all to release them, because of the backlog of other announced products. We might see the JT-16 for December, or some other big release.

That would be a lovely Christmas present to myself if that's the case...or a birthday present - both around the same time 8)

Complete speculation but given how long the pro16 has been in development (long before the jp8 tease) I wonder if there's legal activity behind the scenes because they're introducing new stuff from the prophet 5r4
