ImageLine was bought out? Source?dionenoid wrote: Fri Aug 23, 2024 1:43 amYep. They were all bought in 2021 by a multi-billion investment company called 'Francisco and partners'.Stopani wrote: Wed Aug 21, 2024 10:09 pm I've been away a while. Are Izotope, Plugin Alliance and Native Instruments all in the same group of companies now? What happened and why all the changes?
The new group was called Soundwide for a while, but this changed back to Native Instruments because NI was, and still is, market leader in this market. They just became a bit bigger now that PA and Izotope are added.
In short, the changes were because many investors saw money to be made in the music production market. There's been a lot of these kind of investment buys in the last few years : For example Avid was bought. Fender was bought and then bought Presonus. SSL was bought by a company which also bought Slate. Imageline was bought and then bought UVI. And so on. All by investment companies.
Who the hell owns what now?

I don't think so. If you mean out of those who have been consumed by investment groups? I find this interesting at this time, however. Just spit-balling here, but, was any of this driven by the Covid explosion? I'm probably just isolated in my own experience, but, all of these mergers have come at a time where I've lost interest in paying too much money for plugins. I think that I've purchased one, maybe two, plugins this year.DCrown wrote: Tue Aug 27, 2024 6:05 pm The only really good dev was Exponential Audio imo and Izotope destroyed it
I wish that Urs would release something new and I'm always watching what Dan at Newfangled does. That's where you need to be if you want my money. Oh, if NI would double down on Reaktor, I'll not only give them money but sing their praises again.

Yes, only out of those, but I could also refer to reverb plugins only and think Exponential Audio are one of the best. I still use them all.ghettosynth wrote: Tue Aug 27, 2024 6:26 pmI don't think so. If you mean out of those who have been consumed by investment groups? I find this interesting at this time, however. Imageline was acquisitioned by Waterland in 2019. This is old news guys, surprised you didn't know about this.

Yeah, but my recollection that NI have ceased further development of Reaktor is correct, isn't it?HOTF wrote: Fri Aug 23, 2024 2:42 pm NI should put all their ressources into Reaktor because that's what I want![]()

I don't see any information about Image-line being bought out by Waterland, actually. Further research shows that it is still privately owned: https://pitchbook.com/profiles/company/223857-01
