That's a great point, especially when there are so many great pre-wired pickguards available.
Any recommendations E?

The Tex Mex pre-wired looks like good value @£125

Personally, I would only upgrade if I were looking for a significant change, such as getting active or hum canceling pickups, or maybe an SSH configuration. The Tex-Mex pickups seem pretty similar to stock Classic Vibes pickups.

Whereas with a Vintage Modified the pickups are usually good relative to the other parts, so they are worse value to upgrade. (In that you are likely "wasting" a good part and still held back by other limitations.)
I heard the CV teles had ‘better’ stock pups than the strat models. (Unknown?) I had a 50s CV strat beautiful guitar and Great qualify :tu: bit of a sticky finish on the neck tho… but then again I always find ‘something’ haha. :hihi: Great value for $

Had a VM Tele Nashville style with the mini bucker in neck position.. interesting layout :tu: decent axe

Fender custom shop Twisted tele are great replacements .. or it could have been Hot-50s set I had still tryna track down my old receipt for which set I bought years ago . But they were fire both positions so many great sounds ! Would defs purchase again.

Pretty much what E says also I subscribe to re different design .. Lace sensors are interesting and powerful pickups also 8)

I put lace sensors in my CV 60s thinline, to get a similar tone with less hum. I think they also sound a touch more balanced and less resonant/honky; not everyone would like that.

Here's a pickup comparison chart I downloaded.

I have no idea about what pickups to get, all my respectable guitarist friends say some variety of seymour duncan. Tho one guy told me to hunt down some used Ybbara's for $8-900 bucks-ish, heh. I do like the MFD bridge on the G&L, the humbucker could be better I think.

Is it an MFD humbucker? What do you need from it? More output? More bass? More clarity?

The humbucker is alnico, the bridge is the MFD. The alnico sounds good, it's a little brighter
than Id like. What do I want out of it? Lol i dunno, I want the best sounding pickups heh.
To me it should sound meatier, tho it is on a telecaster.

Maybe clarity and output and bass... heh

Years ago my father passed along an old Gibson acoustic to me ..I always referred to it as my jumbo, as that's what I'd heard John Lennon would refer to his as. Mine has the natural finish, and two ugly knobs I thought somebody added with the pickup at the neck.
So a while back I was putting on some new strings when I noticed the bridge was starting to pull up. I figured it needed pulled off and regluing and that was well beyond anything I wanted to do. Ultimately a friend put me in touch with someone who used to work with Gibsons. So I took him the guitar and told him I didn't know what model it was nor how old it was due to Gibson's funky serial numbers. It didn't take him long to identify it as a 60's era J-160e, the model John and George used to play

Cool, do you happen to carry those? with brass looking covers if possible...

Bareknuckle's Ragnarok pickups are definitely something I will spare money for if I get a new job. I have one Ibanez superstrat that was bought from flea market in 2011 lying around and my aim has been to make a "project guitar" out of it.

i'm planning to get the donner arena 2000.
it has an extra feature that might be useful.
it can act like an audio interface?
like a focusrite scarlett.

i remember trying to play the guitar.
i don't like calluses.
so, i'm planning to get fingertip protectors.

i remember wearing earplugs about a decade or so ago.
the earplug technology wasn't good back then.
but these days, earplugs has improved a lot.
it must be true with fingertip protectors too.
