Plugin wise they sound different, althoughmost wavetables are equal. The new microwave has a better sound and much better filters - I hear the difference

I'm really liking the new plugin, it definitely has that Waldorf mojo, although it has been years since I've played a MW hardware unit.

Thumbs up for the well laid out GUI, I've been enjoying using it so far, and well pleased with the tones I'm getting out of it, helped of course by a judicious touch of reverb.

Good job Waldorf!

It sounds really good. I like the DAC modelling and unique Texture coaxed out of it. have played both this and microQ at a studio some yyrs back and I recall lighting up over certain bellish key patches. i get the same excitement working with similar patches on this. i dont care about comparisons in the least. this is a new instrument which does sound pleasantly different and gives that vibe i got yrs ago from the one i played. great work. a couple survivable ui glitches aside when switching osc panels. thanks Waldorf 👍 p.s. i can only imagine how nice it must be as a controller and librarian for the rack ver. tiny screens become tiring

Surely any modern WT synth blows this away and is very easily emulated.

Literally zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Interesting how things are always a matter of perspective in life. You see, for me it's quite the opposite. All the latest wavetable synths all sound the same to me, I'm numbed by them. They all have the same sheen and sonic coating, without any special characteristics or unique charisma. They are all interchangeable. This new Microwave 1 plugin, although it doesn't bring anything new technologically, we can all agree on that, has a distinctive and quirky sound that all the others don't have. Combined with modern effects we have today, it really comes alive with a special vibe.

Very cool to see Waldorf keeping alive their legacy.

Definitely a significant step up sound-wise from the PPG plugin...which was fine in its day, but a bit outdated now - the filter model in that is over two decades old. I had a MW1 Rev A years ago and still have a few recordings from it, and this plugin makes me feel like I've got that synth back, but in a more accessible form than a rack module with an uninviting interface.

I'll definitely give it a whirl. Have they added any method for adding new wave tables? Seems like that could be a fun move. I spent some time playing with Microwave 1s and 2s and XTs when I was first starting out in music. They never did much for me but lots of that was probably the interface.

another thank you from me too, thoughtful of you!

Enjoying this Microwave a lot. Between the new Korg 2600, the GForce OB-1 and this, really have liked my last 3 synth purchases.
