Any good plugins for guitar tones/amp simulators?

Hi there,I'm looking for recommendations on good plugins for guitar tones and amp simulators. I'm considering buying the Neural DSP Soldano SLO-100, but I'm wondering if there are better options available. Any suggestions?.
I'm new to all of this, BTW.

I would say though, if you are new to it then a good start would be IK's free stuff - Amplitube and Tonex custom shop versions. A good range of decent stuff in there to get you going.

For the SLO-100 specifically there actually probably *aren't* better options than the NeuralDSP plugin, but it is not cheap.

I do like the Soldano in Amplitube just fine though.

I think your best overall bet is to wait until Amplitube 5 Max goes on sale for $99 and just buy that. the variety of what you get is huge and the quality is quite good.

If a big suite like Amplitube is overwhelming, and Neural DSP is too expensive, you might want to check out the Mercuriall SS11. It's just three channels, everything is laid out on one (page?) without having to tab around, and the lead channel will probably get close enough to that SLO sound. It sounds great. The only strike really is the ir's are just okay. That's an easy fix.

It depends as there are so many options on the market. neural DSP are probably the top tier so you shouldn’t be disappointed.
The new Guitar Rig 7 is getting great reviews check out Leon Todd’s review on YT - he’s playing the Soldano model on that. And Glenn from SSS is getting his * Heaviest Mix Ever* using it
Impressive stuff.

Some boomer recommendations
For free older software just for guitar practice.. checkout ToneLib GFX.
it sounds more akin to a multi effects pedal re the ‘realism’ but it has very musical tones ..a nice sweet midrange and very dynamic imo. more for the retro sounds but.
The old Revalver 4 has a decent Orange amp sim named ‘RedHot’.. it’s fat and pretty good for modern rock just mucking around on. I think that’s free also. Very easy to use both.

I just bought the softube amproom, marshall suite for like $35, pretty good with a lot of stuff in it.

*The amps and cabs are good, not a fan of some of the effects, like the fuzz or gate. The gate
didn't seem to do anything at all, and I have yet to hear a decent fuzz in SW for some reason.
Something about the HW fuzz that SW can not seem to replicate imo. The Api effects are pretty
cool tho.

Something about the HW fuzz that SW can not seem to replicate imo. The Api effects are pretty
cool tho.

Love love love Softube Amproom one of the very best imo their old Vintage Amproom software version (the original) is still very useable also.
The amps OD & Compress more like amps IRL imo.
Very different and cool

I’ve been mucking around with an old free vst called The Anvil (head only) .. a 3 channel amp. Still quite good and useable that too with a cab sim. (Or not!)
TSE was the dev I think.
Very useable clean and crunch channels.
I like where it ‘sits’ in its EQ/tone a bit different to the usuals

Agree, I still use it as well. Its heavy saturation and compression removes the need of adding both later for more thickness.
