I have the Syinsi 1U Pedal I/O:
https://www.modulargrid.net/e/syinsi-pedal-io
The signal is boosted on the way back in, and using this with guitar pedals seems to be fine; I can adjust the level of the boost, but only from the back of the module, which is a pain. I just can't seem to get the NTS-1 output to register - which is strange, as I think the output from the guitar pedal is presumably lower than the NTS-1.

Sooooo, is the Mk ii worth the price difference over the mk I?
It seems to be a little under twice the price. The sequencer seems good, but I guess the additional oscs and effects can be programmed for the mk I?
The video above sounds great, but so does the earlier mk I with the volca.

Yeah, it does seem like a big jump in price. Obviously the Mk2 is more powerful, (and I think has more memory?) so future custom oscillators, effects etc can be more complex. There are noise oscs and distortion effects units for the Mk1, so if you wanted to save the cash, you could get part of the way there on the new onboard Units with a Mk1, though the 3? new distortion effects do sound pretty good.
Stuff built for the Mk1 wont be compatible, though, unless its recompiled, as the processor and API are different, so units will need ported for the Mk2. Remains to be seen what does and doesnt make it, like commercial stuff from some of the smaller devs. Korg have the definitive list of Units these days, I posted it in a thread about third-party Units the other day... viewtopic.php?t=602560.
Personally, since I already have a Mk1 and I kind of intended it more as an effects unit, I'm more interested in the Kaoss Pad style NTS-3, so it would be nice to know if it can do the input vs osc modulation stuff that the Mk2 does. Sequencer in the Mk2 isnt such a deal for me, I have SQ-1s.

An idiot on Set Theory:
"In some cases there is an object called red that contains everything that is red. In much the same way a pot is a plate."

Of course the NTS-3. I've never owned a Kaoss pad (although I do have an Alesis Air FX tucked away somewhere), and the price of this kit version does appeal. Maybe I'll go for the MK1 and the NTS-3.
That may cover all bases for me, except the seq, which I may be able to live without.
I think with all the available Units for the MK1, it should keep me busy for a while
This is me thinking about cheap but fun synths to play with of a winter's evening. The two *Tron synths look fun as well. Might be time to break out the (very) old Berhinger mixer
