I have cubase 2 and giga studio 3.

I need horns and gutarts in my music.

I play my parts. I don't like to try to fit a loop in.

Where do I go to find horn and gutar samples that I can play?

Probably a soundfont is your best bet. SFZ is a free soundfont player (High quality) by rcg:audio. They have a developer forum here that includes a gigantic list of places to find free, good soundfonts. Of course, there are commercial ones available. Hope that's a productive start :)

Soundfonts (.sfz) are intelligent (but kinda wierd) sample formats that can only be played by soundfont players.

as an alternative, there are "physically modeled" ("pm" can also mean phase modulation) vsti that might work for you.. models tend to sound a bit less 'authentic' but more expressive in playing, which often makes up for the authenticity.

there are several plucked string models around (usually called exactly that..) i have a super primitive 'b_brass' model that ~sounds like white noise in a tunnel but occasionally makes saxophoneish noises (eg. 'smokin dope' or 'sweetheart' on music page)
you come and go, you come and go. amitabha neither a follower nor a leader be tagore "where roads are made i lose my way" where there is certainty, consideration is absent.

That's ok. We don't get many non-technical musos here, seeing that this is a technology forum, but anyhow, welcome

Since you already have Gigastudio, try starting at Tascam's website and looking through their library for guitar and brass sample CDs. There are about 13 zillion commercial sample CDs available from others as well.

There's a thread here dedicated to free samples available on the net for download. Go here:

http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=37272

You'll have to do a lot of downloading, and testing, to find some good ones, but that's the price to pay when they're "free." Also, you may want to invest in a good sample format converter, like Chickensys Translator, or CDXtract. A lot of these free samples come in other formats than Gigastudio.

(Format, in case you don't know, specifies which model sampler they instruments are designed to load in (e.g. Akai S1000, or Giga, or Kontakt, and so on). There will be a collection of files in an instrument. There will be several, or several dozen, samples, and one instrument file. The samples themselves normally come in WAV or AIFF format, which is practically universal for all samplers, but the instrument file tells the sampler how to map the samples across the keyboard, and the values of other settings (like attack and decay times, and so on). This instrument file is different because each sampler is structured differently internally. So consequently, you lose something in translation from, for example, soundfont to Giga Format. )

Hope this helps.
