I have a third take on it. I don’t think it’s a bad value, too expensive or too big but I am disappointed and won’t be buying it. I’m simply not interested in 13 thousand samples and 300 presets of dusty, acoustic, recorded to tape and then vinyl,Vintage, retro,LoFi, old school hip hop, funk, soul, r&b etc. I was looking forward to a more diverse expansion, this just isn’t useful for me and that’s ok.tq wrote: Sat Aug 31, 2024 6:56 pm Well, there seem to be two arguments here: Some people just think it's 'too expensive', and some others ask for smaller packs. The latter is a valid argument, IMHO, and maybe something WA should consider. The former is just nonsense considering what you get. It's not just the samples, but it's a full expansion including presets etc. So it's more comparable with something like Maschine expansions than a sample pack. And with Maschine expansions, you usually get a couple hundred one shots, not 13k, for about 50 Euros. If you do the math, the Triaz expansion is fantastic value, even when compared to the super cheap sale price Maschine expansions go these days. Also, I think it's outstanding samples and presets that you get, much better than most of the competition.
Well, I am old enough to remember times when a "sample disc" cost much much more than this, so I think we're just spoiled these days, and the market is incredibly tough...

Good folks,
Wondering if you’ve experienced the issue of Triaz missing start / stop midi trigger notes or sequence bank trigger notes in my song. I love what Triaz brings and I can’t seem to find a solution
I’m wondering if it’s some issue with read ahead or the like.
Using Logic on M1 Mac.

I've had weird things like that happen. Solution is to drag the MIDI into my DAW.

It’s really frustrating. Of course copying the midi is a usable life hack, but also tedious because it gets in the way of being iterative and experimental with how different layers, combinations and randomizations work with what ever tune one has got going (in a given section). And, I mean, this really detracts value proposition and functionality of Triaz.
For reference UJAM’s percussion products does this exactly as expected, so it’s not a technical challenge that cannot be overcome.

I always only use the Clean sample folders from WA, I will do my own colouring and saturarisation and tape fx.
Dont need the same stuff 10 times recorded differently. Just the raw samples, thx.

To me it sounded more like collections of sampled acoustic kits than of just, record samples or electronic samples.Septic Underground wrote: Sun Sep 01, 2024 8:46 am same here.

I'm not sure it's just the same stuff recorded 10 times. In other WA packs there's maybe been 3 flavours of a sample, clean, punchy (?), vinyl?. Something like that. Easy enough to choose the one you want.
I didn't think it would be that worth it for me, as I lean towards more electronic type sounds, and already have some pretty good acoustic kits samples. But I just had another listen and I think it sounds pretty good. I particularly liked some of the percussion that had a nice organic sound to it.
Gotta say I'm loving Triaz in general so far. Its replacing the Bitwig drum machine in a few places for sure, which doesn't have the xox style interface.
My only gripe is that it doesn't really have any straightforward vanilla kits. I'd love a few 909 kits and a DMX kit to use as starting points for building out kits.

Just to make sure: Is it just the first note on the first bar, or any time you start it? There is an ancient issue with Logic that some plug ins miss the first note in the first bar. I think they never properly fixed it, for whatever reason. It does not only happen with Triaz, but with several plug ins (here: Synthesizer V, for example). I made it a habit to always have an empty bar before anything starts. Another solution is hard quantizing the first note, which usually fixes this. So it might not be Triaz per se, but the interplay of Triaz and Logic. (Does not rule out a bug in Triaz, but this is a common issue with some plug ins.)christerdk wrote: Sun Sep 01, 2024 2:56 amIt’s really frustrating. Sure, that's totally fine. I was just commenting on people saying it's "too expensive", which is unfair given the value you get and the work that went into this expansion. Naturally, if you don't like it, there is no value for you, and then you don't buy - fair.ChanceB wrote: Sun Sep 01, 2024 12:36 am I have a third take on it. However, I wouldn't discard this as just retro hip hop, funk etc. stuff. I used one preset as the basis for an industrial track, and I like what I hear. These drums are really fat. Probably they should do a taster pack, so that people can judge the value better than just listening to the audio examples on the web site. Anyway, in the past, they were listening to customers, so why not let them know and start a poll here, asking for a) whether people would prefer smaller packs in the 25 dollars range, and b) what type of material they would like to have?

I also wondered about that. But it's easy to make your own kits by just searching for the styles. They have enough 909, 808, DMX etc. included to make a kit out of it._leras wrote: Sun Sep 01, 2024 9:07 am My only gripe is that it doesn't really have any straightforward vanilla kits. I also have a Samples of Mars collection that I got really cheap in the past. They also have a lot of kits that they selected that are more traditional, I think.
So I created a "Template" in Triaz that has the basics (like velocity) setup correctly where all the samples have been removed. Then I can just drag and drop my drum kits easily into Triaz. It was very quick to create a bunch of "standard" kits.
Same also applies to their sequences. They are all very special and busy. If you want typical or simple beats, you have to import it from other MIDI collections.

I would really like a World Perc expansion and an Orchestral Perc expansions, just recorded clean and categorized well.
WA has announced that those will come, great, I will get those I am not so much into acoustic kits...and also I have the roms for every drummodule already (e.g. Roland TD/Alesis DM/Boss DR/Yamaha DTX etc, those got me covered for all acoustic stuff if I would ever need it.
But good for those who can use this Dirt set, just not for me.

That will be Drumvolution/Revolution drum line that will be released separately as a plugin with focus on raw drummmachines as kits... Can't wait for that one as well.
And yes the Samples From MARS are great.. Also check out KB6samples.de
With WA + Mars + KB6 you have every box on the planet (600+ ).....also when sorted well only 12 GB in size orso

But I also agree with the overall sentiment here that it may have been better to have a smaller and cheaper extension.
The Drift expansion is indeed already a bit opinionated. For me it hits a good spot, though because I like that it has those acoustic, but processed / lofi samples in it. If I want clean and realistic acoustic drum sounds, I would not use Triaz for this anyway but something with velocity / round robin multi-sample triggering like Addictive Drums 2.

I have both of these as Live instruments (and they are excellent) so I hope they do a cross grade (or better still freeSeptic Underground wrote: Sun Sep 01, 2024 9:36 am That will be Drumvolution/Revolution drum line that will be released separately as a plugin with focus on raw drummmachines as kits... I don't think Revolution will end up as Triaz expansions however, the GUI and control is too different, I think it end up as dedicated 'stand alone' drum machines like Triaz but dedicated to what they do well...the controls for the drum machines they are emulating. Not sure about Drumvolution...I think Traiaz may have just replaced it...
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!
