Out of interest which others do you prefer/rate better for clean styles. I thought the S-Gear cleans / slight breakup was top notch
That's a good question, I dunno, I like the nembrini stuff and have a few of them, they
are pretty affordable on sale, I also liked the MixWave collections, tho I think they are
expensive and I wont pay that much. heh

The toneking from neural is pretty good too I think, tho I wont pay for that either.
$99 euros, no way. I have one of their sims, the Fortin Nameless, from back when I
'would' pay $99 euros for stuff. I do think their stuff is too cpu heavy and not worth it imo.

That's about it, I no longer support IK multimedia or Native Instruments, so I don't use
that stuff anymore. I think 3 was the last version or amplitube or guitar rig for me.

Intersting. I’m trying to think what’s free/ low cpu and has decent clean tones… GR has a free Rig Player (but u don’t support NI so..) Blue Cat destructor has a free amp that’s got a very useable basic fender / Marshall amp model.

AXP had a free fender FM25 solid state sim that sounded perfectly fine imo also for example.

Blue cats destructor (paid) has pretty amazing clean tone patches with fantastic effects / delays give that a demo. Their ‘replies’ delays are incredible.

I don’t think clean amp sims have progressed much in a decade. Clean is still ..just ’clean’ yknow? It’s a basic sound. A Roland JC120 model has not progressed at all since the first generation of Ampsims imo :hihi:

Messing w ReValver4 a month ago I found a module I’d never tried before called “ Nylon “ turning my electric into a nylon string classical sound .. it was awesome! I would defo use it in a song . Must do a lil sound demo actually. older amp sims still have little gems in them and much lower cpu.

Pretty sure I got R4 for free somehow at the time.

It's not really about getting stuff cheap or free, I just don't have any reason to buy it.
I have $2000 worth of boutique amp and associated pedals, I even have the hoodie
on top of that, I have 3 separate HW amp sims, that imo sound better than the SW sims,
not to mention I have prob $10k in pedals and whatnot.

btw: although they are part of NI now, Brainworx has some nice amp sims that can be had super cheap on occasion. I always liked Rockrack and often found it handy. I have a few other of their amp sims and pedal sims, certainly worth a look imo...

I wanted this for a while, it's deceptively capable and versatile and sounds very good so I'll share:

Kemper player is my holy grail of amp simulator no more need for VST's

Neural DSP was close contender to use live but then i stumbled upon Kemper, it blow away the Neural DSP amps by far

And kuassa cerberus for Bass and convenience

And those hardware amp sims are which sound better than software sims?

Playing w it last night , I gotta say it again..my favourite Go-To for guitar practice and jamming ideas is still the free old ToneLib GFX software (!)

All my guitars sound great though it.
Especially my p90 guitar..! ( very full sounding)

It sounds more like a multi effects unit than an Amp Sim by design.
But this is not a bad thing for me.
Some of those older MFX units had great patches and sound better than similar Amp Sim presets of the same genre to me. MFX presets are more just plug n play also.

I did a shootout vs SGear last night,,. SGear still has a bit of ‘graininess’ in it to my ears in comparison, it wasn’t as ‘fat’ sounding as ToneLib.

But I’d take ‘Fun & easy dialling’ Vs. ‘realism & lots of tweaking’ these days. Tweaking is a waste of my time tbh.I wanna be inspired off the bat with a preset and just play.

Purely subjective and my ears and taste of course.YMMV etc etc

But I will say re MFX tones, one of my fave guitarist Joey Santiango of pixies used to plug his Zoom pedal into the mixing desk on some of those albums and got great sounds… so

If you're asking which HW sims I have, they are UAFX dream, Strymon Iridium, Quitler Superblock.
I prob have some old line 6 and avid stuff laying around somewhere as well, if you want to get
technical about it.

I like this one (prob will buy it), its pretty slick workflow wise and definitely light
and fast. Still musing on the sound, it's good but the Nembrini stuff is sounding a little
better to me so far. Of course i thought it sounded terrible right off the bat
until I realized my BigSky was on, and on some very incompatible preset.

Thanks never heard of those! I have Kemper player now and really happy with tone results i get!
It seems that Kemper does not get much love here on KVR? Tonex is heard and talked a lot about.

I will check those pedals out you named.

Nice, the Kemper seems like it would be pretty good. The pedals I have are pretty cool,
though, I'm not sure most folks would need to have more than one of them, beyond
collecting the series for the UA or quilter pedals or something. I just happen to have
a number of them, like I have a number of audio interfaces laying around. That said,
you couldn't go wrong really, with any of them. The quilter stuff is pretty interesting
since it's solidstate modeling. I cant really say if it's better or worse than digital, but
it's very good imo and has some benefits over the digital pedals in regard to sheer
output. 24 v pwr and XLR out.

*Basically, the quilter is a real solidstate guitar amp, just a small one. It can even
drive a small cab. Whereas the digital amp modelers are fake, to put it bluntly...

Just learned about Primo from this thread.

https://apfxaudio.com

This is really great. Not quite the detail of NAM or ThU captures but really close and with the included fx and super fast workflow I can see me reaching for this more times than not. I play clean to edge of break up.
We jumped the fence because it was a fence not be cause the grass was greener.
