They also removed lots of content from Standard to make Ultimate more enticing.

Yes it been available but Guitar Rig 7 was never part of Komplete 14.

WTF. They’re still selling Reaktor based stuff (Form, Molekular, etc), but you don’t need the full version to use it. Yeah, it seems they're phasing out Reaktor for good. Damn.

All in all a thoroughly disappointing update, at least for me. I’m still on K13, I think, maybe even 12, I haven’t updated in a while. As it stands it’s unlikely NI is ever going to see another € from me, which is kinda sad.

yes, i am on TAL Drum/Sampler. I try to avoid NI in all areas. you never know when they switch off Reaktor, Massive, FM8 and more. oh and Absynth 5...

It's the 2nd featured "highlights" software in their announcement, right after Kontakt 8.

I removed everything from them off my home computer and moved the backup files to an archive drive and regained 1.5TB/.8TB on those drives. Feels nice as even the few remaining things I have seem to have become feckless and unnecessary to other things I've replaced them with and with much less bloat.

I suspect most people wait a few months for the inevitable 50% off sale if the want it...
Anyone feeling the need to upgrade or just wait and maybe upgrade Kontakt?

I just upgraded from K12 Standard to K14 Ultimate during the summer sale, so I’m probably good for the next 2-3 years.

It's weird because it includes both Reaktor Prism and Reaktor Spark so you would think it would include Reaktor too so they can work properly

Unless they converted them to VST version which was the case for some time for Super 8...

I don't think they will discontinue Reaktor because there are some third party devs such as Toybox Audio which are plugged in to the NI and Reaktor ecosystem and NI Access

If they ditch Reaktor this will be the fail of the fails

Both run with Reaktor Player only. So a full version of R6 is not needed...

It is a curious thing though. They announced a couple of years ago that Reaktor was effectively EOL, and 6.5 would be the last. So this is no surprise to see it omitted - two player synths IS a bit of a surprise - any compatibility issues will likely be the same for Player or full.

I got my guesses about half right. There's no ground-up rewrite of Kontakt as I hoped - Mario (Evil Dragon) has said that's never going to happen. But we do get Kontakt 8, which does look like it has more synthesis capability. Cornflux is a hybrid synth / sampler hosted in Kontakt, which I felt was the direction of likely travel for NI synths.

Also in the screengrabs you can see the instrument headers have gone in the new view (optional?). So if they make Kontakt synths, they won't feel like Kontakt instruments necessarily.
