TuneCore issue when using royalty-free samples!

Hi everyone, (this topic is most relevant for those who makes electronic music - I guess)

The issue / warning to others:

I release my music through TuneCore, which is a large music distribution located in New York. My music genre is EDM (House, Dance ..), and I use some samples I buy on Loopmasters (drumloops, synths-hit, fx's, and some vocals) - and these should be 100% royalty-free to use in any music!? (But, they are not!)

However, I recently uploaded my new album with 15 tracks to my TuneCore account / profile - for release on all major streaming services. In 1-2 days my tracks got flagged by (an AI?), because the system TuneCore use, when artists upload a song, is hearing this as a "remix" / another song (not mine ..). This is crazy - and it means I can't use any royalty-free sample I buy at Loopmasters and others.

I have searched the internet for others artists having this issue with TuneCore - and I not alone in the dark!

Yes, just my point. But this should not be an issue, - as you can't copyright your music based on the use of royalty-free samples!?

Let's say that you make a song with some drumloops, drumsounds, maybe a short bass-loop, some sound effects (hits, risers etc), and vocals from Loopmasters, - and then you play some synths in the DAW to make this song. Can others use the same samples in their music? Yes ...

While true, they don't want to be a part of any copyright kerfuffle. So, they require you to prove that you have a license. I don't know what that may involve. However, they do talk about it quite a bit.

They do say, explicitly, that royalty free loops are generally ok:

Generally speaking, writers are free to register a work containing a copyright-free sample or loop from platforms such as Splice, Logic and Garage Band etc.
We strongly advise writers to consult the terms and conditions of the specific platform from which they are taking a sample before doing so.

(In 2023 Spotify got more than 184 millions songs - many of these are electronic music. It’s almost impossible not to use the same samples, as others artists …)

I don't know man, you'll have to ask them I suppose. I use them, they are glacially slow, but I don't really care and neither of us (me and tunecore) are going to ever make a nickel off of my music. That said, I was a bit surprised that they even approved my submission. It was certainly not eligible for youtube content ID based on the type of work. They probably don't care that much about electronic music because there is so much of it released.

UPDATE: After many mail correspondences with TuneCore support, they have decided: There's nothing wrong with any of my 15 tracks on upcoming album 21/09/2024. I did have Loopmasters (a specific supporter) as CC on the last mail - and after that - TuneCore changed their mind ...

can't you just make music without worrying about all that legality?

make a thousand songs
and when you die, release your songs everywhere
with an ai

the ai can be programmed to know that you have died
and automatically it will sign you up at bandcamp or wherever
and your thousand songs will be everywhere

but you have to be sure that your ai won't malfunction
