I'm happy with it

yah- if you break a string at a gig, it will take 15 mins to put a new one on,
needing nips, hex keys and the string

-so I just use mine in the studio (I don't play out anyway)

another option is a Bigsby one, never had one
Yupppp that happened to our lead guitarist at a gig 2nd song in .. nightmare.

Eventually he gave up and used my spare id been offering him for the entire 10 minutes he was fiddling with his FR to try change the string.

Bigsby is only a small dip .. about a semitone down and back up. More for vibrato warbles. I like them but they suited to the older ‘twang ‘genres of music mainly. It’s a subtle effect. Otherwise it’s an out of tune situation usually. Then need a roller bridge maybe also to go with,

Not the slack string dive bombs and pull ups that can be achieved with a FR with the locking -everything,

The other downside for me with FR is no palm muting. The strings go sharp on palm mutes afaik. as it moves the Trem down and up (? )Perhaps this has been modified these days with newer designs dunno..

I’d love to try one setup by a tech for me.
It’s the DIY that’d drive me crazy with them I reckon and the palm mutes .

I wanna Evertune guitar .. ! anyone remember those? Don’t think they took off. are they decommissioned now anyone know?

I guess maybe using a Whammy Pedal like Tom Morello is the “ hack” to getting around a FR for some of those sounds…

Never had that. Either my FloydRose copy is improved in that aspect, or it's a skill I happen ti have developed.
We are the KVR collective. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated. Image
My MusicCalc is served over https!!

never got on with the FR tremelo, i hear
they keep in tune better these days, also
have seem some 3rd party products to
correct for that i guess.

tbh i prefer a hard tail.

I saw this method in a video once. No clue about the science behind it but it does help.
Thanks. Just tried and it worked great.

I like the suhr strats, either the standard or
classic designs. I will get one sooner or later.

Also i like the james tyler super strat. even
if the head stock shape is a bit funky. $5k

the blade pins took my Chinese replacement
The Samick's original cast iron came apart,
the lucky buy of the new one is more based on a mild steel,
not casting iron
The dimension of the blade pins is 2.5 mm wrong

-I wrote that about my Floyd's knives, but now I see u may be talking about bent metal.
I fail to see how it won't take so many actions without parting,
sounds wicked though
Sorry, I should have posted this from the beginning:

They're awesome. Some LTD models came with them and you can find those for fairly cheap. Takes some effort to set up but excellent once dialed in.

Best Strat I've ever played was a Suhr Custom Classic with the Fuzz Feiten tuning. It did almost everything perfectly. The only thing not perfect is the in-between pickup positions were noisy. I realized after I sold it that I could have fixed that by simply installing a hum canceling pickup in the middle position. :(

Bummer, you guys are lucky tho, being able to
hit up the used market. Harder for me living
in the sticks. Ill get a new one definitely.

i think their standard pickups are all noise cancelling now.

Suhr is still using the SSCII hum canceling system, which is what I had. It's amazing on one pickup at a time but is only half hum canceling in the in-between positions. That's why installing an actual hum canceling pickup in the middle fixes it, because the SSCII only has to cancel hum on the neck and bridge pickups in that case.
