So, with it's release, is SynthMaster 3 the new reigning Super Synth? I was shocked to see how much this synth includes. It's even got 16 layers! I don't see much, if anything, that it can't do. What are your opinions based on the current specifications?

It is a flagship, a big thing, no doubt. Congrats to the developer!
But ( must be the devil who invented that word!) is it a solution to everything, like the Theory of everything, a book I laid down, because it reiterates, what even an average Indian guru knew and knows?
Lets make an FM synth with it with 2 carriers (oscillators) and 2 operators, that shape the carriers.
Problem:I cannot tune the oscillator in Hertz. That is a downfall, because my hearing is not as good as to hear 6.4 Hz and 6.9 Hz. (I am talking about the difference.)
Yes a good synth, I own it and even the full package, but not the end of the road.
Let us celebrate anyway!

So, then...... What currently is "better" than SynthMaster 3?Artie Fichelle wrote: Tue Sep 03, 2024 3:35 pm It is a flagship, a big thing, no doubt. Congrats to the developer!

not necessarily better ,because that depends on may factors, but melda msoundfactory is a top contender for one of the best synths out there .
btw i'm loving synthmaster 3,the possibilities are huge.

Synth1 (legend) and Sylenth (black belt) still rule and everyone should think about it.
Don't get me wrong, I love tweaking the shizz out of hundreds of parameters. But the above plugins get the job done when it comes to straight usable results.

As far as I understand the OP, he asks for a synth with more capabilities, not your preferred ones.elassi wrote: Tue Sep 03, 2024 5:24 pm Synth1 (legend) and Sylenth (black belt) still rule and everyone should think about it.![]()

UVI Falcon is quite capable, but not, when it comes to synthesis. Though it can use any fx per voice. I agree that MSoundFactory still is the most capable.

Omniphere, Halion, Falcon, Avenger, Rapid are already there from a while.audiojunkie wrote: Tue Sep 03, 2024 2:57 pm So, with it's release, is SynthMaster 3 the new reigning Super Synth? Fun fact, I own Syntmaster 1/2/3 but I never used it on any of my tracks.

I haven't checked out the full specs for SM3 but zebra will always be a top contender for "all things synthesis". Kontakt, reaktor, Halion and Alchemy are up there for "insane sample manipulation. If they've managed to beat or match all the above synths for "analog style subtractive, FM/PM/PD, Additive Resynthesis, granular Resynthesis, and spectral resynthesis" while still having a decent workflow and insanely flexible signal path, then it will definitely be one of the "one synth to rule them all" contenders. I only ever got "synthmaster 1" and had some crash issues but I'll be giving the new guy a demo.
Don't F**K with Mr. Zero.

I love SynthMaster 3, but when I think "reigning everything synth", it's going to be Falcon or Phase Plant. I just can't Falcon's UI so maybe MSoundFactory as replacement for it would be a choice too, and VPS Avenger 2 looks interesting. Out of all of those alternatives I would recommend Phase Plant the most.
But: SynthMaster 3 definitely contends with those other synths, and at a much lower price. Also in terms of presets, nothing is going to beat SM3 if that's your thing. KV331 has done an awesome job with SynthMaster.
Since I have both SynthMaster 3 and Phase Plant I am completely set for that kind of synth.

Msoindfactory, Falcon, Halion, Avenger are all of the same class.
Phase plant lacks sequencing and ARPs.
I think Synthmaster compares favourably in features so it comes down to usability and stability.
Falcon and Msoundfactory lose out in usability and Synthmaster is not quite as usable as Avenger or Halion. It also doesn’t seem as stable as Halion or Avenger.

Yeah but in terms of modularity, routing, and UI I would put it above the others you list (and in some cases, far above.)
None are perfect and all are a mixed bag, having more than one is not a bad plan.
