Monterey vs Sonoma CPU & RAM usage?

I am currently using Monterey on my Macbook m1 Air. It runs super smooth.
I tried Sonoma using Opencore on my Macbook Pro mid2012, and that was incredibly slow.
But with Monterey and Opencore I can use the same computer just fine, it works just as good as High Sierra.

So it seems obvious Sonoma is more taxing for the computer running it.

What experience do you have from using Sonoma? Is it more sluggish than Monterey? Is there less CPU & RAM available for audio tasks compared to previous macOS:es?
