I hope they don't go changing Native Access (again)

What are you trying to imply?BBFG# wrote: Thu Sep 05, 2024 8:43 pmWhat companies are you suggesting will punish you?mi-os wrote: Thu Sep 05, 2024 8:11 pm If there is no reason to upgrade for you, then don't upgrade. The good thing with NI is that's totally fine. You won't get punished for it. If nobody buys the upgrades anymore they might change course.
And why are you so willing to do that for them?

Anybody else remember when NI made, erm, native instruments?

- Feature poor, (if it works, try moving a library) Native access
- Kontakt 8 library compatibility - We know NI will do something to F this up
- Non exsistant customer support
- Exorbitantly high fees to upgrade/update
------To upgrade to CE is $600 bux, Izotope everything is something similar. I bought CE14 and Izotope everything for less than this, and this is now the update price. Granted some years have passed, but for a decades long supporter, totally unacceptable.
- 1.4 Customer Rating on Trust Pilot (Vs a 4.7 rating for someone like Spitfire)
- NI bought by an Investment firm
- So much more with KK, and Keyboards
With all this going on, people are really considering this? Really?
Native Instruments is EOL.

I wouldn’t sweat it. Some people get so butthurt about some companies that saying “just don’t buy their stuff if you don’t want to” isn’t enough for them.

I bet those people are highly unproductive track wise: they're just talking their sh*t over and over.

I think you're off base.mi-os wrote: Thu Sep 05, 2024 8:11 pm If there is no reason to upgrade for you, then don't upgrade. The good thing with NI is that's totally fine. Native Access is set to automatically update. Much like a Firefox browser. When it automatically updates, you will have to update your libraries, like the Kontakt 6 to 7 debacle.
NI will not come out and say how to prevent that from happening, in fact, they designed it that way. Total fustercluck!
I have a really fast computer, some good mics, vintage musical instruments, and lots of fancy software. Just need some talent

Is this just your opinion or a fact? If fact, please elaborate.
One could assume they are EOL for how long? 10 years? After all these years with little development they're rather in a frozen state by the looks of it. Or maybe call it stable with minimum effort. But the stuff is still there/working (mostly) and still attractive by shear the number and variety of sounds.
It just doesn't seem to make sense to upgrade each time a new Komplete version gets released anymore. The shift in focus may make it less desirable to certain customers. However I'm pretty sure I'll finally upgrade this time. Just understand that some people are at older and some already at the last/current version. That fact mostly determines the willingness to upgrade. As a pessimistic person I'm still sceptical where they are heading and fear for the worst. But I also don't have any illusions about any of their competitors as well. They all can fail one way or another.

KVR: where nuance goes to die. All the usual stuff in this thread.
There are lots of problems with NI and their products, they are sometimes infuriating. But NI are not the root of all evil and much of what they do is very good indeed. There are terrific bargains to be had, and their suite of freebies is superb in Komplete Start.
As I've said 50 times, the reason why KVR is so excised over NI is that they used to be synth trailblazers and are no longer. Synths is pretty much all KVR people are interested in. In some other sample product areas they are best in class.
