The logic behind this AI thing is more purchases of the plugin, less piracy. I suppose it will be buggy/less useful at first, then will gradually improve.

But on the other hand, IDK, there are huge preset packs (pirated) floating around, findable with a few mouseclicks, so I guess the pirates have their hands more than full. So why bother with this AI stuff?

Why knows the real pros and cons behind this decision?!

Can anyone describe this AI app, or provide a picture, please? Thus far I've seen no detailed description anywhere. Can you specify a few presets as a starting point and give a direction for the AI to work towards? Something like e.g. Synplant? Or different? Thanks!

Not exactly true. You can use LLMs on your own machine wether you download them or train them by yourself.

Mhm maybe because pirates already (for years) harm e.g. sound designers already a lot... and now they get AI as extra/second harm - simple.

Ask yourself, would you as a sound designer feel comfy right now with this?

If this feature can't be run locally and requires external resources to generate the patches then it's costing *someone* something in terms of compute time. In that case, I'm not sure how it can remain free to the users in the long term. Maybe I'm overly cynical, but I wouldn't be surprised if this turns into a subscription service at some point. Happy to be proven wrong, though!

Anyone know why you might get an "RS AI is blocked for this ID" message?

They've said that the plan is to offer a subscription for those who want to generate more than the daily limit of patches (currently around 2000). I suppose they could always change that number to something much lower to try and encourage more subscriptions (Reveal please don't do this)

A heads up in case anyone else encounters this... It's a system glitch for licenses that are not visible in accounts on the website and a fix is being worked on, according to support.

Someone once said that "Artificial Intelligence will kill Humanity" and looking at the Arts scene specifically it seems they may be right.

Pushing a button and getting a sound (or an image, etc) that may or may not be worth keeping is a totally soulless activity to me.

At any rate testing the A.I. in Spire has not yielded any useful presets yet. Some with tweaking might be made into nice patches but I don't think that was the point. Might as well just start from INIT and learn to program the synth for yourself.

I realize that the A.I. in Spire is "young" and in Beta so may still be learning but so far I'm not impressed. Maybe I need to learn the generator tab more but again what's the point? Why not just learn the synth ?

So unless the A.I. has access to features and parameters that the end user does not then the presets it can make won't be any different or any better than those made by a talented human sound designer who is well familiar with Spire. If I were releasing commercial sound banks I wouldn't be too worried just yet.

Speaking only for myself I'd rather see Spire get features that can expand the range of sounds it can make (user wavetables, more filters, different routings, etc) but I'm sure someone will make use of the A.I. function.

I'm always grateful for updates and new features even if I have no use for them because it means the developer is still involved and working to improve the plugin and that gives me confidence to use the synth into the future. :tu:

+1 to user wavetables. Imagine throwing some of my collected tables through Spires filters! Please do this, Reveal Sound.

I'm sort of flabbergasted that one can subscribe to make- what, 2000!- presets a day. Who needs that? How would that possibly be useful? Give me 10 quality presets that fully explore a synth and teach me how to coax beauty from it and I'm set. Thousands of presets is just thousands of irretrievable moments spent clicking through inevitable garbage. And Spire is really easy to program anyway. Strange.

Tried it and reverted to the previous build.

1) takes longer to load

2) confusing - the generated presets don’t automatically show up… UX still needs work

3) causes S1 Pro 6.6 to freeze up

I haven't even created 2000 presets in my life let alone a day
It's a common process to limit prompt generations in these services. It doesn't have anything with how much you or you generate presets per day or year it is just a safety thing like to prevent abuse or to prevent ongoing generation stuck in an endless loop due to the error etc.

Every prompt has this which is why when you work with LLM you need to continually press "Continue generating" .

Also if you go to the best image generation services they also have limits per day for the same reason.

At the top nothing is free as well. So a company needs to limit something at some point.

I imagine 2000 presets per day is more than enough.

I see some people ar upset. Quality will degrade and all that. Possibly. Also possible that quality will improve. Also possible that no one stopping yo from generating your own human-made presets.

One thing I will say is it's interesting they jumped on the AI band wagon straight away that nobody asked for and still ignore the much requested Spire as an FX ability

Much requested by .................. you :-).

Don't you have already effects ? Don't we all have already effects ad nauseam.

This AI feature is fun as hell, is unique and creates very good started sound and is useful as such, and it put back Spire, one of (if not "the") best sounding soft synth on the planet back in trend !

Well done Revealsound !
