Which Addictive Drums ADpak(s) to pick? (No specific genre)

The nice thing is you can't go wrong with any of the ADpak choices.
Listen to the audio samples to figure out the best for your uses.
Each of the ADpak demos can vary hugely.
Each kit is certainly unique. I've found depending on the tune,
certain kits just sit ideally in the mix. And others require a little more effort.
For playing with pads, I don't believe there is a more realistic sounding/playing/feeling drum VSTi.
Good luck,
Dirk

Vintage dry is great. The first brushed jazz kit they released is great too. I honestly went from V1 with the retro add on to V2 and have gotten a few more since, but the kits included in the original V1 stuff are great for most of my needs. I think I got the United Pop, R&V, and the Percussion at the same time as Vintage Dry and the Percussion kit is the only one I feel is lacking. I've yet to hear a full drum kit pack from them that I thought sounded "bad". The built in FX and mixing make all their sample sets insanely versatile.
Don't F**K with Mr. Zero.

I have fairfax 2 and black oyster. Do you think vintage dry would be a good choice, or is it a little too similar to the other packs? I'd like something fairly different to balance it out. Fairfax 2 and black oyster seem like they can handle quite a bit already, especially if I played around with the effects. Part of me is leaning towards the metal pack for big metal drums, but I'm not 100% sure.Echoes in the Attic wrote: Fri Sep 06, 2024 2:53 pm Vintage dry is awesome. So are the jazz kits, brushes in particular. I also like the Reel machines for a different take on classic drum machines with the AD mapping and processing. These ones are my favs as they are the most different from the factory packs, or whatever the original factory packs were (studio, rock and prog or vintage or whatever, which otherwise are probably my favs as well)

I think vintage dry is quite different from those and quite unique compared all the other kit packs. Listen to the demos, youll get a good idea.JamesC01 wrote: Fri Sep 06, 2024 5:40 pmI have fairfax 2 and black oyster. You don’t have to hurry, the pack selection slot just sits in your account until you use it, so it’s worth taking a bit of time to work out what might need filling out from your own tracks before making the choice.JamesC01 wrote: Fri Sep 06, 2024 5:40 pm I have fairfax 2 and black oyster. You're right, I should get the next kit when I feel like I actually need it, and should see what I can do with the ones I've currently picked.Gamma-UT wrote: Fri Sep 06, 2024 5:50 pmYou don’t have to hurry, the pack selection slot just sits in your account until you use it, so it’s worth taking a bit of time to work out what might need filling out from your own tracks before making the choice.JamesC01 wrote: Fri Sep 06, 2024 5:40 pm I have fairfax 2 and black oyster. If you do fancy getting others at a later date they can usually be had at a huge discount in the 'Buy & Sell' forum here too. Got most of mine that way, and the XLN transfer process is really simple.JamesC01 wrote: Fri Sep 06, 2024 5:55 pmYou're right, I should get the next kit when I feel like I actually need it, and should see what I can do with the ones I've currently picked.Gamma-UT wrote: Fri Sep 06, 2024 5:50 pmYou don’t have to hurry, the pack selection slot just sits in your account until you use it, so it’s worth taking a bit of time to work out what might need filling out from your own tracks before making the choice.JamesC01 wrote: Fri Sep 06, 2024 5:40 pm I have fairfax 2 and black oyster. True. Absolutely can't go wrong. Even Boutique Mallets that sounds muted in the demos, sounds amazing when you use it in a mix.Dirk Diggler wrote: Fri Sep 06, 2024 3:16 pm The nice thing is you can't go wrong with any of the ADpak choices.

Just got Fairfax. So I’d say I use Heavy the most to date.JamesC01 wrote: Fri Sep 06, 2024 8:54 pmWhich one out of those is your favourite?vitocorleone123 wrote: Fri Sep 06, 2024 8:05 pm So far I have Heavy, Reel, Metal, and Fairfax 1. Still deciding on two more.

Thinking the third pack should be something heavier, so united heavy sounds good, or maybe metal, not sure.vitocorleone123 wrote: Fri Sep 06, 2024 8:05 pm So far I have Heavy, Reel, Metal, and Fairfax 1. Still deciding on two more.

You may want to wait until Black Friday. They always have very deep discounts, so you could save a lot or get all of the kits for around the same price as you would normally spend on three.

I use the Black Velvet kit the most.
Reel Machines gets its uses here and there too.

Fairfax 1 is probably my most used.
Even if the piano player can't play, keep the party going.
