Mighty_Hero, i too ordered from Turnkey. All you need is some form of reciept, i myself used the email reciept - order number etc. I also added the contact at turnkey.

Then the vocals, if i ever remotely criticised the vox in the past, then these more than make up for it, they're truly tremendous. I've only scratched the tip of the iceberg in terms of the synth patches, but they're great too. I can imagine you could get truly lost in the potential of this monster. It'll take me quite a bit of time to get used to this product, but i'll post a full review and my own patches soon.

Does anyone else find that the +/- octave feature when using ST2 doesn't work on the SS2 vocal texture patches? I achieved my desired effect via the synth 'pitch' panel, but i just thought i'd get a bug in the open in case anyone else hadn't found out. Hmmm, where is the correct place to highlight a problem with SR sounds on a IK engine, the IK MultimediaSupport request, or support@esoundz.com?
So far Squids, this is a truly great product, you can go from truly realistic acoustic sounds to weird IDM incarnations (Stretch really helps, has a very nice granular sound when maxed out) in seconds.
One question relating to the LA synthesis basis that you were getting at is (this question is also based on a very basic know-how of LA synthesis, so bear with me), if you have all these different envelope elements in SS2 (or i believe the LA synthesis term is 'partial'), how is it possible to trigger the release elements at the end of the sound (for example a 'Wurly Release' sound). As the way i understood is that you could have the lip of a trumpet sound as an attack, going into the main body of the trumpet sound, then ending on a 'breath sound' release. So all together you have three partials, the 'lip sound', the 'trumpet waveform' and the 'breath' - the first are obvious to produce, but i can't seem to be able to integrate these release partials into my patches? Any ideas?

pricer:
I think you only have the envelopes to do it. The problem is that they are very basic, but probably playing with the adsr you can make the breath appear more present at the end of the sound.
Talking about LA... are in SS2 some (or many) patches exploding this (great) synthesis? or are those partials here unused waiting to be played by the end user?

Well, first of all, you are an SS1 owner right? So, you qualify for the upgrade (upgrade/crossgrade- same deal... one can't qualify for both at the same time though so you choose one or the other... basically if you have EITHER SS1 or ST2L/XL then you qualify for the low intro price).Mighty_Hero wrote:Hey Dave, I bought my ST2XL from turnk..com
How do you want proof from me that I have it?
Want me to take a photo of all my stuff and post it here?
As far as crossgraders of ST2XL, it doesn't matter if you bought it from Turnkey for their temporary insane blow out thing they did or if you bought it from anywhere else. As long as you are the licensed registered owner then it will automatically let you authorize it without you having to take pictures of your stuff or anything like that.

The LA synthesis method is there except instead of just mixing 4 partials you can essentially mix 16 each with their own effects. Currently you can do the attack layered over the sustain sounds (the main LA synthesis thing) but eventually in a future update there may be something for release triggering. So, I put in some elements for that now. Clever folk can mess around with midi processors to do it now if they wanted to since the architecture is also multi-timbral (the original D50 was not).pricer wrote:

A lot of elements are in there for experimenting. Some people might use a Wurly release as its own sound too or as an attack or who knows? Experiment.
But, of course, Sonik Synth 2 will be enhanced over time with more features. Just keep in mind that it is JUST coming out so it needs to get into people's hands first a bit. Then in due time you'll be seeing more and more good things. In fact, I think it is safe to say that if word really gets out about Sonik Synth 2 and it is a big success (which we hope of course) then it will fuel the fire to put even more resources into developing it further with all kinds of wanted features. In other words, the more people buy it the more we can afford to put back into it. You know that a lot of stuff we do with added value tends to be free so... expect good things in the future.

There are 350+ combi patches, most of which are layered composite sounds which is very LA-like. But, there are so many more things that can and will be done with programming both by SR and I think from users as well. We'll do some patch sharing. It'll be fun. You can expect more free patches from www.esoundz.com as well as from IK too. Plus, maybe I'll do some tutorials about various inventions using Sonik Synth 2. It's pretty deep. I like to think of Sonik Synth 2 as a you being the chef and available to you is a gourmet supermarket as your ingredients.krraqk wrote:pricer:

I think a patch sharing site would be great fun,,, and it would help us develope even more of a commumity. Excellent idea squids. You got a total winner here, man. Hey, see if you can get Rick Wakeman to give us some combinations! Also,,, how about posting the combination you used on the Yes inspired demo you did?

Oh, if I have that I can do that. Guess who might be doing a demo for SS2? Keith Emerson. He loves it and Will, his tech, is a friend of mine so he said they're putting together Tarkus or something like that. I'll let you know when I have it. I don't know if he'll give me the midi file though. (that would be too cool).harmony gardens wrote:I think a patch sharing site would be great fun,,, and it would help us develope even more of a commumity. Excellent idea squids. It sounds like an engine problem. Contact IK tech support by following the link in your IK user area (login here).pricer wrote:Does anyone else find that the +/- octave feature when using ST2 doesn't work on the SS2 vocal texture patches? Are there are steps or configuration settings that reliably reproduce the problem? I tried some of the vocal textures just now, and haven't had any problem using the octave shift setting for the channel in ST2.
Forever,
Kim.

Anybody else using Sonar 4 PE? I'm getting a Sonar crash when I try to save a preset under the part preset. I can save combinations fine. This is a consistant behavior here. Anyone else getting this?
