They're awesome. Some LTD models came with them and you can find those for fairly cheap. Takes some effort to set up but excellent once dialed in.
I defs want one at some point..
LTDs hey…cheers I’ll have a look.:tu:
Don’t know why they didn’t take off more.
It’s a great solution to a lot of the hassle and pet peeves I got with guitars in general. The tuning and intonation.

Another thing I must have.
Once my ears got decent I suddenly heard the limits of equal temperament also
I saw some dude in YT with a guitar with both EverTune AND those wavy frets (?name)for super precise intonation all the way up the fretboard.
I was like “ this is my dream come true” :hihi: :o

True temperament was the name.

Just checked, I have a patented "licensed" FloydRose. No issue with palm mutes, as you can see. The gold plating weared off in 30 years of usage, but it doesn't detune with palm mutes. Considerable force on an odd place is required for that.

I disagree

Clapton has been a Strat only guy since the mid 70's He always has a blocked trem or no trem strat. If you play strats you become very aware the pitfalls of early strats with 7.5 radius. Using the trem always pushes some of the string back behind the nut causing it to go out. Look at the old Jimi Hendrix videos he's always correcting for the tuning going out mid song.

Bob Dylan played a stratocaster

Some trems are better than others. Ibanez had a crazy zero trem system that was terrible Some strat type guitars do better with direct string inline with nut at proper pitch. String trees can be a pain. Rollers are better.

If you have a whammy bar on the guitar you may or may not use it. I've got one on my Parker Fly P44 that I never use because I find it too damn stiff. My FR equipped Charvel SD Model One MIM is amazing for keeping tune. There is a lock feature so I can't/dont pull up to far. (that's the way I break too many strings on my Jackson Dinky) I still don't go nuts on the whammy bar. Because it's not my bag.

Stratocasters are very popular in the smooth jazz field

I’d tend to agree with this.
I’ve rarely had a strat I could do Tremelo abuse on like say, Ritchie Blackmore did…and have it stay in tune well (when trying to copy his style) .

The closest I had was a Charvel jap strat that had a big ass Brass roller nut on it . It was some special odd jap design specifically for that model.
STB- something model.

It was pretty effective. But the Trem was setup for floating so no palm muting , didnt like that setup and cbf tryna reset the Trem . It also had jumbo frets I’m not a fan of so with those and floating Trem i decided to sell it eventually

Great quality guitar tho top to tail those Older series jap charvel strats.
red sunburst STB model I think…

Belew’s not been a Strat guy for a very, very long time. He’s been mostly using Parkers, special editions made for him. He is still the Twang Bar King, though.

I’d wanted a Strat for a really long time, as it’s so iconic. Jimi, Harrison, Clapton, Summers, etc. When I finally saved up the money for one, I was unimpressed. It felt sort of cheap. It was probably ‘82 or so. I went into NYC and everyone was selling the basic Stratocaster for about $400. Then someone brought out a G&L Skyhawk (the L in G&L stands for Leo, as in Leo Fender) and it was a totally different animal. It felt really good and substantial. It had a beefier tone. I had to go into a bit of debt, but I walked out with it. I still have it. It’s still the best Stratocaster style guitar I’ve ever played.

A Strat of some sort is the only model I want, to be able to consider my guitar collection complete.
I used to have a nice Japanese strat, but my then brother-in-law borrowed it and it got stolen, you
might think he would go out of his way to replace it, but you'd be wrong...

Post

G&L's rule. Great basses, too.

Most Japanese Strats are made of basswood but there are a couple of high-end models, the 115's and LS's, that are made of alder. If I needed a Strat, I'd get an LS because they sell for cheap and have great features (LS stands for Lace Sensors).

Post

Those G&Ls had some cool pickup designs
Z shaped pickups etc,,

Never played one but would love to must give one a spin soon. It’s Leo so in theory they ought to be better than a Fender ?
