Celebrate each other's creative methods and output, and motivate each other to explore different methodologies and tools and ideas. You don't need to choose one way of doing something and bash everything else. Enjoying working using varying methods is a richness. Be enthusiastic about the ways someone else approaches their passion. Constructive criticism, and pointing out that something doesn't subjectively suit oneself and one's own use case, all of that is of course okay. But this tracker discussion hasn't been about that, at all. It's just some negative vibes coming from someone who wants to bash a thing.
Funny part is I created this thread in the sole purpose to celebrate the very different ways of creating and how a pilar/reference like Norman Cook could be using things so differently and in a way that may look backward to some...

It was trying to be an argument against pedantic axxxxoles...

And then this happen... Somehow it is quite funny...

Even if this was true (which obviously isn't the case), have you ever heard of the saying "Don't bring a knife to a gun fight"? In case of trackers the knife can be swapped with a spoon. I'm not saying spoons are useless, I would never eat a soup with a knife or a gun. But yeah - if you're bringing a spoon to a gun fight then you're not just an idiot, you're insane.
Don't blame the tools. It's not what you have, but what you do with what you have:

Vendor‑Dependent Copy Protection: Customers lose. Pirates win.
(Also: I'm Accused of lying about Linux—it boots, runs my pro audio workflow, stays stable, updates--though yearly dismissed as “niche”. Yet I'm the deluded one.)

I was 18 when I first composed my first 3 and half minute tracker track with Octamed Sound Studio, around April 1996 and with out a midi keyboard. I found the software I was happy with and with that ,that was the catalyst to get me to invest in a midi keyboard and learn how to play. I was training in welding and fabrication and spray painting at the time. My supervisor asked me what my ambitions were, I simply said that I wanted to create music. The rest is history.

You don't use a mouse to program sequences in a tracker , you use the keyboard .
You can copy , paste selections , continious paste , granular selection , use triplet or any other note division wit the use of the delay column .
Reverse , cut , retrigger all or or individual notes on a per line basis and all of this is done with the keyboard , if your fast at typing you can imagine how fast you can be at programming a tracker .
All it takes is some experience and it's blazingly fast if you know your shortcuts , nothing comes close.
Get a good quality mechanical keyboard with n-key rollover , Filco is great :tu:

Ah yes, "causing chaos" because I pointed out the technicial limitations of trackers. Sure. This is just too stupid. Blocked.
No , you just don't know trackers enough and what appears to you to be be technical limiations is just lack of experience

Despite the "pro" label, this is for amateurs, made by an amateur:

We should come up with thread ideas for intrancer.

1. Which part of your DAW do you find most attractive and why?
2. Is your DAW better than your vacuum cleaner? Discuss.
3. How does your DAW differ if used on a Wednesday as opposed to the day before Thursday?

And it's why I love using Renoise. My only weapon is the computer keyboard. No mouse and no MIDI controller. I can load an instrument, record a sequence, switch tracks and load a new instrument rinse and repeat all on the fly without touching the
mouse.
