the AI thing seems kinda broken?
you just need to check the settings and generate presets and if you only change SEEDS you get the same results?
shouldnt changing SEEDS also produce different presets?
my experience with this so far is underwhelming, which is good for sound designers, i get so many samey results which is strange when it should make sooooooooo many different sounds and random intelligently ai generated presets.
this thing comes nowhere near a sound designer in my opinion yet, it feels like there is a pool of 1000 presets and you get always the same ones randomly and sometimes with some noise etc. or maybe i use this wrong.

I'm having the same experience. In my opinion, A.I. patch generation should generate finished patches or it's utterly useless. If all it does is generate some starting point where the user needs to spend an hour turning into something useful then the user might as well start from an INIT patch and learn the synth so they don't have to rely on "artificial".
I've tried several different combination of options in the A.I. tab but the results are always pretty much the same. I have it generate 64 presets (which comes up a few short) and of those maybe one or two might be a good starting point for a finished patch.
Perhaps Vega555 could post a screenshot of a combination that will yield better results. I know the A.I. is still young and it may be learning but at this point the results I'm getting are not as good as the randomize function in some other synths I own.
Again A.I., randomizers, parameter lock, etc hold no appeal to me. The joy for me is starting at init and then coming up with something I enjoy.
So with that in mind and in light of the possible A.I. patch creation revolution I'm going to use the term "Hand Crafted" to describe patches that were made from INIT without the aid of any tools. Perhaps commercial sound designers will want to use that term to let people know that the presets they're selling are hand crafted from the finest of ingredients and not just the result of pushing buttons that anyone could do.
Here are some "Hand Crafted" patches made from INIT. Are they among the finest patches ever created for Spire? Absolutely not. I haven't spent that much time patching Spire mostly because I find some features that are important to me missing. My patches tend to be "old school" as compared to the more modern presets found in Spire's factory bank so may not appeal to others. Were the patches a ton of fun to make and do they bring me joy? Absolutely and that's the whole point for me.
Perhaps they'll bring some entertainment to someone else....

TBH, I really don't understand why this AI feature was implemented. Who asked for this? Who is the target audience?
If the idea is to get a starting point that needs tweaking, why not. But that's not how it's advertised. It's presented as computer magic that will churn out original sounds in a few clicks, which it clearly doesn't (yet).
A much better feature would have been the ability to upload your own patches if you feel like sharing them with the world (could the AI feed on this?) but then stupid people upload copyrighted presets.

I get better results with Dune 3 and its random function. I really get usable sounds and some of them are exceptional!
It’s not AI but RI (Richard).
Still, Spire is a top synth with or without AI.

i tested it yesterday again and got 3 submissions with different seeds but didnt change the rest = same results. this thing is broken or it just picks as i said from a pool of presets (so thats then why you might need to be online?).Teksonik wrote: Wed Sep 11, 2024 3:26 pm I'm having the same experience. I am online and I always get 95% presets almost the same sounding - no matter the category. And out of those 95% - more then a half are semi finished or straight up ugly and thin. AI offers very limited sonic pallet. Maybe new version is on its way?

Spire is one of my favourite synths, but I also think AI on a synth like this is a waste of time...Even if it worked, patching a synth is a fun and creative part of using a synth...hopefully there will be some real updates soon that affect the sound and functionality of the synth.

Might be that they aim to get bought out by one of the big companies. Having AI under your belt is a nice selling (or rather buying) point then. I think this a trend nowadays and in that case the users would not even be the primary audience for these changes.Ghostwave wrote: Wed Sep 11, 2024 4:14 pm TBH, I really don't understand why this AI feature was implemented. I don't think it is possible to copyright a preset.Ghostwave wrote: Wed Sep 11, 2024 4:14 pm A much better feature would have been the ability to upload your own patches if you feel like sharing them with the world (could the AI feed on this?) but then stupid people upload copyrighted presets.![]()

I think for UVI's sample-based synths, especially the D-50 sounds in Digital Synsations, IIRC UVI made their own presets on a D-50 and then sampled them to avoid any issues like that. So you won't hear something like Fantasia or Digital Native Dance on it.BlitBit wrote: Tue Sep 17, 2024 5:51 pmMight be that they aim to get bought out by one of the big companies. Worthy synt but ai works crookedly. It’s better to twist yourself.

Fantastic to see the Sale. Is the AI doing better now? I still have my Spire license although I transferred it before which I didn't want to do. Now I am ready for it again. Thanks

I'm sure they just call it AI since it's the buzzword de jour. Prolly nothing more than a randomizer. Maybe they should just go back to that. I spent hours playing with the Absynth preset slot machine. Even got a few decent patches out of it.
