303-style slides with Korg SQ-64?

The 64 can't seem to do them. I hooked up my Behringer Crave, Edge and Volca Keys, and set up 100% Slide on a few steps using the Tie function(knob 1 + press a step button) in the Gate menu. No portamento is happening unless I'm activating it on the synth itself. Is there something I'm leaving out? The video where Slides are done using the Social Entropy Engine got me wanting to do the same with my SQ-64. Dosen't even the SQ-1 have dedicated Slide and Accent controls?
This is especially a drag with my Behringer Edge, which does not have Portamento, it being mainly a percussion synth. You can do some gnarly basses with it though, so some way to have Portamento would be nice.
