Yes, but it's still not work very well in Ableton Live for example. So it is actually a legitimate wish, to test, before buying.

The note C3 bug is still there, after nearly three years. This seems to be Ableton Live specific, Bitwig users cannot confirm this bug.

Also tested in Ableton Live: For some reason, the VCV VST3 plugin only has one midi input channel and can only receive midi input on channel one. The VCV VST2 Plugin has 16 channels and can receive midi input on all of them. Why?

I have been using Cardinal with Live or a while now and am not aware of any C3 bug.

Might not be an option for you if you are invested in VCV paid modules ecosystem (it only support modules that are baked into it, and those are just the open source ones, and not all of those have been ported) but it's worth a try still as it works flawlessly in Live.

I was curious and bought the drums, buts they’re really sad.

This is when I wish Softube would add Heartbeat to VCV.
Strange, i grabbed vcv drums too, initially because liked kick sound from one of demo videos, and after check all rest drums, was not regret.
Although frankly can't say that i were used them often yet, but definitely i keep in mind their kick module as one of the bests what i heard in drum synths.
And this despite i have Heartbeat too (grabbed before vcv).

VCV kick offers 2 models, based on 909 and 808. The Heartbeat also has 2 kick modules and one is similar to an 808 and the other is similar to a 909, but both offer more features to change the sound, especially with the harmonics knob.

None of the VCV (I mean that specific paid module) or the Softube 909 BD sounds like 909 BD though. 808 is more in the water of "reminiscent" but 909 no unless you are drunk and your imagination is rubbery.

I said “based on” and “similar” not identical clone.

Again, I’m not a fan of the VCV drums. I do like Heartbeat’s, but I don’t need a 909 kick.. it’s never been my thing, but I am well aware of what it means to many and specific genres.

Well yes, that right too. Although it not always matter of settings diversity (like MTonic). + Softube good cpu eater. But ok more variations is always desirable.

I just make ambient and don't worry about kicks

Maybe it’s time to run your kicks with long decays through granular tools? Could be interesting?

Still would want a better kick source than the premium VCV Drums. :hihi:

Depending on the kind of ambient, the occasional kick (or low tom, frame drum, sampled 5 gallon water bottle, etc.) can be welcome. With plenty of reverb of course...

In VCV you make pretty great kicks with resonating filters (like Ripples aka "liquid filter", or Cytomic CF100) and a couple of envelopes, or with Rings, or all kinds of other options. I wouldn't bother with a module specifically made for kicks.

Yeah I was half joking, but it's easy to make kicks with lots of synths you don't need a drum module. I also have a ton of Rompler type plugins with actual 909, 808, samples and every other drum machine ever made. If I want 909 sounds inside VCV, I would just host one of those plugins

I like using FM for percussion sounds however

I'll take another look at VCV over the weekend. Been a while. Can someone recommend good sample(r) modules? I want to see what people are using these days to load samples. Not asking for granular stuff just a way to replicate my samplers. I am aware VCV is not a Kontakt or TAL Sampler replacement but it can still load samples so recommend some modules please.

And can someone recommend some good envelope modules tailored for drums? I browsed quickly and found some interesting ones. But in these libraries, people are naming modules in all sorts of ways so as not to miss something I am asking here.

Maybe is something you're looking for... :)
