i cant be arsed watching an old man rail about young peoples shenanigans
I’d much rather see boomers and Xers calling out shit for being shit than see them pretending to be hip with the kids like a cool mom.
im not hip with the kids at all.
the music i listened to, annoyed my mum, thats how its supposed to be

There is too many people making music for anyone to complain.

If you don’t hear something you like that’s your own fault you lazy f**kers! Now get the f**k off my lawn and slow down you punks!

Seriously though, there is a shit ton of music out there.

Most of it is not going to be a commercial success. Some of it might even become a commercial success 5, 10 or 20 years later because social media has upended traditional methods for telling people what they should like… and if we’re honest, that was truly flawed as f**k too.

Bunch of old farts. Own it.

There's nothing wrong with the music. It's the distribution and promotion of it that's f**ked.

That there's good music not being able to reach the listeners that would engage with it is a clear cut case of market penetration gap, and it's caused in large parts by the noise created by oversized major players in the market.

What perpetuates this situation is that average consumer doesn't care about music all that much. Music is not exactly irrelevant, but is almost so. That's why there's no disruption and the big music business isn't collapsing under its own weight.

The only people who care are other musicians, that's who businesses that start out making the changes in distribution and marketing turn either to them or the majors as customers.

The average consumer doesn't really have an unmet need.

He’s been clickbaiting this cruft for years. This and “The best XXX of all time!” videos featuring the cream of bland classic rock.

Which is too bad as he used to have his good moments. He still does sometimes, and his “What makes this song great?” series is interesting. His courses are supposed to be great too.

But I just can’t with his clickbait.

some of the new k-pop is really pretty good, but some of it is also just mostly flashy videos.
it really depends upon which k-pop tune we're talking about. some of them are great.

at first i thought we were about to be within a musical renaissance of all types of music, but then nothing much happened.
but a lot of things probably affect the music industry.

Cool. So in other words, Pete may have aged, but he's still gonna die before he gets old

There seriously is a ton of music put there. And tons of good stuff.

E.g. even beyond crate digging, there are so many channels with current DJ sets. Some really fantastic stuff out there.

Came across this totally unexpected but brilliant house set

Modern dnb, maybe cheesy by UK standards but this is going off

People put out whole shows

There's boiler room, radio one essential mix (still), hor Berlin... All upto date DJ mixes.

I mean, cmon, it's easy to find stuff.

It really is. You just have to look, and not very far. I've even pointed at some a couple times in this thread, in several genres.

The charts are dead. The old distribution models are dead. If you stick to them of course everything looks terrible.

I blame it on the lack of youth discoteques and village barn dances nowadays.
