Remotely activate recording

Noob question I guess, is there an easy way to start and stop recording in Cubase if I am recording vocals on the other side of the room?

yeah, there are a few apps like that out there. Do Steinberg not do one of their own?
If apps dont work out in the long term, or you decide you prefer 'real buttons' you can try a cheap USB controller on a long USB cable. We use Presonus Faderport 1's for this, and the original ones are fairly cheap second-hand, but there are plenty of options.

Cubase software costs money and has been broken for ages apparently. The Avid one is free and I only need it for start stop record so will try that option first before moving to anything that might cost money.

There is the app remote control from steinberg

Never had any issues works like a charm here, many many recording done near the musicians and not locked to the daw
