Sonic Academy Kick 3

I was out of the loop with Kick 3. Can it do (sample) delay for layers? It's the thing I use the most when designing kicks: two (or sometimes a third) Kick instance, in parallel, and I use a sample delay in my DAW to properly align the phase of all involved sounds. It would be nice to have it builtin

There is phase rotation control for the subs and you can change the start point of sampled clicks.
If you have Kick 2 you can sign up to the kick 3 beta.

I'll be on vacation for one more week, If the phase rotation for subs is continuous (as opposite to a simple 180 flip), then it should do the trick. Aside from this, anything else would be a bonus. I'll check it out when I'm back. Cheers!

Great! Looking forward!Phil Sonic Academy wrote: Tue Sep 24, 2024 9:46 amIn those particular IRs the Filter is on the IR itselfdermage wrote: Tue Sep 24, 2024 9:42 amIs the lowpass applied before the Reverb? I remember in beta it didn't filter the effect of the reverb.
Could we also have a lowpass after the reverb?
Could you improve the IR selector? Menu diving for each reverb is quite cumbersome (can even see
that in the video, also checked the beta)
Maybe an right/left arrow, as with the presets.
Otherwise great feature to finally have reverb, thanks!
Yes we are currently working on some Reverb improvements... adding buttons and some other controls to expand functionality.
Reverb is the one feature which makes it alone worth to upgrade

Sorry for the offtopic, but could someone point me to any resource on how to program this kind of kick sequence? Concrete example with tempo, signature and grid division would be much appreciated (for example, i tried XooXooXooXoooXoo in 124BPM, 1/16).
What is this even called, what should i be searching for? I like it but I could never wrap my head around it.

A few comments :
- There are no stereo/mono settings for individual layers.
- There is no free phase option for the clicks (samples).
- There is no offset available.
- Sample selection is still pretty cumbersome, same as in Kick2 really. You can't preview samples, and/or switch through them like in every other sample player. I found that i had to copy to the 'click' folder first to be able to switch between my own samples, yet i have (like so many here) thousands of samples which usually are not named perfectly...
- When dragging samples into Kick3 (thru drag-and-drop) it always asks for whether to analyse or straight place them. Would be handy to be able to switch off that pop-up...
Anyway, it's a huge improvement over Kick2 already, so keep up the good work.

Theres no real way to rotate the phase of a sample since its not based on a sythesised wave. but we will be having a way to offset both forward and backwards.
RE: sample selection... i will add it in as topic for our next meeting.
