It seems as if you update to Kontakt 8 Libraries, it corrupts anything you have for Kontakt 7, or earlier.
Sound familiar?
Why do people keep purchasing this?
PT Barnum was correct.

This has always been the case.Scoops wrote: Tue Sep 24, 2024 9:09 amIt seems as if you update to Kontakt 8 Libraries, it corrupts anything you have for Kontakt 7, or earlier.
If you have projects with K6 instruments and you update the library to K7, the projects will still load fine in K6. But you can't load a new instrument from that library in K6.

Does Session Percussionist use less CPU with Kontakt 8? I don't have a new computer rig but many complained about the high CPU usage even with stronger PCs. Does Kontakt 8 make a difference?
First and foremost: We need great songs (again)

This sounds weird, are you sure isn't a bug?
I think you should open a ticket or a request, because it's kinda dumb if that's the way it works and if they receive a number of that request, they may hopefully fix it.

I think it's a choice. If you change a format you can decide to provide backwards compatibility or instead burn the bridges behind you. Sometimes it requires a lot of effort to provide backwards compatibility or it ends up as a compromise. Imho if you claim to be the 'industry standard' you should put in that effort. Especially if you have a shit installer app like access that tries to outsmart the user at any given chance.

KFL2 latest update still works in K7. It is just the new multis that showcase Tools that require K8. This is so far the only product that was updated for K8, the changelog has a bit of a sweeping statement regarding minimum requirement, but I've reported this and it will be remedied.

They need to make a Kontakt X, started completely from scratch, while maintaining a Kontakt Legacy purely for backwards compatibility with 3rd party libraries.

It's quite good that you seem to be able to use chords and phrases with K8 player and your existing libraries. Not sure if it's limited in any way, haven't spent much time with it.

Speaking only for myself:
The often-frustrating K7 browser is much more to my liking in K8.
The chords and phrases vignettes included in K8 can be a nice jumping-off point for songwriting ideas. They won't replace Stepic et al, but they weren't meant to. I'm ok with the feature set.
Library loads are a bit faster.
I get stuck notes in both the chords and phrase decks, but it does not cause a crash or a MIDI panic. TBH it could be Ableton (my DAW) - the whole Live 12 dot upgrade cycle has been quirky.
My system CPU use is not noticeably less..or more in K8.
It's an easy swipe to slag NI, but let's keep in mind the devs are human beings doing their jobs the best they can. They are beholden to Francisco Partners/Toma Bravo/Umbrella-Corp-de-jour-this-week. They are the anvils for too many hammers. Ease up a bit, 'k?

We shall see orchestral machines with a thousand new sounds, with thousands of new euphonies, as opposed to the present day's simple sounds of strings, brass, and woodwinds. -- George Antheil, circa 1925 ---

How about reporting to N.I. that they need to make Native Access 2 friendlier to WINE?EvilDragon wrote: Tue Sep 24, 2024 3:08 pmIncorrect.Scoops wrote: Tue Sep 24, 2024 9:09 amIt seems as if you update to Kontakt 8 Libraries, it corrupts anything you have for Kontakt 7, or earlier.
