Thanks for that. Useful feature then.Phil Sonic Academy wrote: If you are producing a band and want to replace or beef up their kick you can use the kick track from the drum mic to trigger kicks… useful for adding extra sub or completely replace the kick with something better.

Fooled around with the beta this arvo- damn, it's nice. It's adapted some of the best features of Audjia- linear and logarithmic display options, phase rotation- but maintained the neat and tidy workflow. The analysis thing is imperfect but interesting- just creates so many nodes but I guess that is where the simplify function steps in? To echo what others have been saying, sample import is still kind of confusing but does the job in a pinch.
Love the addition of different saturation/distortion options, even the ringmod sounds better than I thought it would. I think it just slightly edges out Audjia for best kick vst.

do you also have an idea what kick 3 will cost for new customers? i‘m interested, but I don‘t want to pay 59€ now for kick 2 and 30£ next week, if kick 3 still costs 59€ thenbryansonic wrote: Fri Sep 20, 2024 8:31 pm

30 pounds seem a bit steep in my opinion for an upgradeaudio/fault wrote: Sat Sep 28, 2024 4:22 pmdo you also have an idea what kick 3 will cost for new customers? i‘m interested, but I don‘t want to pay 59€ now for kick 2 and 30£ next week, if kick 3 still costs 59€ thenbryansonic wrote: Fri Sep 20, 2024 8:31 pm

They said you will have to pay the remaining "difference", which means K3 will cost more than K2 I think.audio/fault wrote: Sat Sep 28, 2024 4:22 pm

I think that means you will be paying the same amount, whether you buy K2+3 or just K3.
I don't see much point in getting K2 though, if you're gonna get K3 in less than a month, but hey, I guess you could look at K2 like a mini demo, to get you used to how the plugin works

K2 license owners can access the K3 beta, so if you buy K2 now it's sort like an early access pathway to K3. People can decide if they are happy with that arrangement or not. Sonic Academy have made it clear both here on KVR and in their Discord server, that no one will be financially punished for buying K2 now, the upgrade cost is going to be the same for all users._al_ wrote: Sat Sep 28, 2024 5:16 pm I don't see much point in getting K2 though, if you're gonna get K3 in less than a month, but hey, I guess you could look at K2 like a mini demo, to get you used to how the plugin works

Funny thing though... I bought K2 but never use it. But after trying the K3 beta, I am definitely gonna start using that. It's like making kicks has suddenly become a real joy.PieBerger wrote: Sat Sep 28, 2024 5:42 pm

Really agree there. Making kicks often gets tedious and is really fatiguing- after a point, I'm just shifting nodes in these utterly tiny increments and usually making things worse- this is especially the case with Audjia, but my eyes start bleeding as well. Kick3 seems much more inviting and structured and really fun._al_ wrote: Sun Sep 29, 2024 12:09 amFunny thing though... I bought K2 but never use it. I'm finding the mimic kick function to be around 85% most times. Hopefully, new parameters can be implemented that might tweak things, perhaps the crossover between kick and "top end" not unlike how phaseplant implements wavetable import and can audition the end result of the wavetable live after tweaking various parameters, like what note, etc.

Tweakable crossover would be good.Touch The Universe wrote: Sun Sep 29, 2024 2:45 am I'm finding the mimic kick function to be around 85% most times. I imported a random bloop/bleep sample and it came up with something really weird. Not usable but this could be interesting.
Not sure if SA have explained how the samples are processed- is it FFT?
With the harmonics section, I wonder if one could use this as a strange sort of additive synth?

I have spent only 30 minutes playing with it, but I think it's gonna be a insta buy if the price for owners of k2 is not completely off. I love that you can select a number of points in the pitch envelop that follow pitch of the note! How crazy is that!
What I would be looking forward is seeing more than 2 fx slots in a lane. I think 3 would be good. And three lanes? More is alway better
so let's have 15 slots and 15 lanes ... just kidding
And may be a kind of routing amount from fx lanes to to main fx lane would come handy!

According to videos, the kick recreation tool seems very good. But then synplant 2 was a huuge massive disappointment even though the videos looked good...
So how is it?

It's good. It's not perfect by any means but it gets you about 2/3 of the way there. It's slightly surprising how many nodes it creates in the envelopes- I'm generally putting maybe 5-7 nodes, the synthesis module puts maybe 30? Personally, it's not a huge selling point but it's interesting.EfreetiSultan wrote: Sun Sep 29, 2024 11:07 am According to videos, the kick recreation tool seems very good. It's one of the quickest ways to come up with interesting sounds from a sample.
I actually end up using some in between branch in the Genopatcher most of the time.

It's cool no doubt, when you're feeling experimental and creative.. But as for what it says on the tin.. Not quite so :pkraster wrote: Sun Sep 29, 2024 12:47 pmSynplant 2 is one my favourite plugins released in the last few years.EfreetiSultan wrote: Sun Sep 29, 2024 11:07 am According to videos, the kick recreation tool seems very good. It mostly gave me random FM garble/junk. When I threw sounds I wanted it to recreate.
Sounds good thanksswilow11 wrote: Sun Sep 29, 2024 11:21 amIt's good. It's not perfect by any means but it gets you about 2/3 of the way there.
